PWCS is a recipient of the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief ("ARP ESSER") Fund, under section 2001 of the American Rescue Plan ("ARP") Act of 2021. Read more.
There are several ways to contribute input as PWCS develops a plan for these funds to support students and schools.
1. Complete the ARP ESSER Survey by June 18.
2. Register and speak at the Tuesday, June 15, public meeting
3. Register and speak at the Tuesday, June 22, School Board public hearing
Both meetings will be held at the Kelly Leadership Center and begin at 6 p.m. The meetings will be broadcast via pwcstv.com and locally on Comcast Channel 18 and Verizon FIOS Channel 36.
Freedom High School students get training in draining!
Tim Hughs, an environmental engineer with Prince William County Public Works, teamed up with Dr. Jessica Doiron, a biology teacher at Freedom High School, to show students how stormwater drains from the school’s parking lots, down to a drainage pond, out to the Potomac River, and ultimately as far as the Atlantic Ocean.The lesson also included hands-on learning opportunities as students took water samples from the pond to test the pH, temperature, and other forms of water quality.

Meet George Wright - Principal of Fitzgerald Elementary School
The Fitzgerald Elementary community welcomed their new principal, George Wright, this past May. Principal Wright looks forward to “Lighting the Way to the Future” as leader of the Fitzgerald family.
“I am honored to serve and work with the students, families, and staff of the Fitzgerald community! We can expect to experience great things together in the future,” shares Wright.

Summer Food Service Program locations and times now available

PWCS will provide meals free of charge for all children this summer at designated school sites during select hours. Meals will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.

A tribute to Dr. Steve Walts
As we say goodbye to the 2020-21 school year, we also say farewell to Dr. Steve Walts, Superintendent of Schools, who is retiring effective July 1, 2021. Thank you, Dr. Walts, for 16 years of leadership and dedication to Prince William County Public Schools.
