Prince William School Board takes action on weighted courses
During the May 6 meeting, the PWCS School Board unanimously approved the following motion:
“That the Prince William County School Board direct Superintendent Dr. Walts to make adjustments to transcripts and grade point averages for all students who have taken courses during their time in Prince William County Schools that have been adjusted for new course weighting for fall of 2020. This adjustment shall apply to all current seventh through eleventh grade students. Transcript and grade point averages shall reflect the new weighted average for all students who took any course that is given weight as of the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. All course catalogs, websites, school counseling materials and other appropriate materials will reflect this change”
Staff are now working to implement this directive, and more details shared once plans are finalized and how these changes will be reflected on year-end report card grades.
