The Wildcat Weekly - November 1, 2026

Centreville Students, Families, and Community,

One of our priorities at Centreville High School is fostering a positive school climate where every student feels connected, valued, and a sense of belonging. One of the ways we bring this priority to life is through our newly revamped ROAR values: Relationships, Ownership, Awareness, and Resilience. These values are more than words, they represent the characteristics we want to see in ourselves and in one another as members of the Wildcat Nation.

Each month, we focus on one of our ROAR values through advisory lessons, while our academic departments take turns recognizing students who exemplify that month’s attribute. In October, our focus was Ownership, which included organization, goal setting, effective study habits, personal responsibility, and making positive choices. This month, 38 students were nominated by our Student Services and Math departments for demonstrating these qualities. That is a wonderful testament to the many ways our students are taking ownership of their learning, their choices, and their contributions to our community. Congratulations to all of our October ROAR recipients!

As we turn the calendar to November, our focus shifts to Awareness. This month, we will explore gratitude, celebrating diversity, self-awareness, empathy, appreciation of differences, and understanding the perspectives of others. I have said since the moment I arrived at Centreville, and continue to believe, that our diversity is one of the greatest strengths of our community. I am continually amazed by the cultural clubs and organizations led by our students and the ways they not only celebrate their own cultures and traditions, but also invite others to learn, listen, and better understand the experiences of those around them.

That last piece is especially important. A positive school climate requires more than simply accepting that we are different. We should strive to embrace and affirm one another. Acceptance says, “You are welcome here.” Embracing says, “I value what you bring to our community.” Affirming says, “Your identity, experiences, and perspective matter.” When we move from simply accepting differences to genuinely embracing and affirming one another, we create a community where every person has the opportunity to feel seen, valued, and that they truly belong.

This is the Wildcat Nation we are continuing to build together. Thank you for helping us make Centreville a place where relationships matter, ownership is expected, awareness is celebrated, and resilience is cultivated.

Go Wildcats!

Dr. Erik Healey, Principal
