Stronger Together
|
Dear Clearview Families,
Thank you and congratulations to all of the students, families, and staff that participated in the Herndon parade. Yellow Jackets wowed the crowd and the judges with their creative, awesome float! Costume BINGO was a big hit, as always! Thank you to our PTA and staff members who made Costume BINGO a fun and memorable experience for all.
Thank you, in advance, for attending conferences. The school-home partnership boosts your child’s short and long-term academic and social-emotional success.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Calendar Reminders
Schools are closed for students on Monday, November 2, for a School Planning Day, and Tuesday, November 3, for a Teacher Workday.
AFTERNOON Kiss & Ride Procedure
Thank you for your patience and flexibility with the change in afternoon Kiss & Ride procedures. We are happy to report that, this past week, it took between 10-11 minutes after the bell rang for buses, vans, and cars to pick up students and head home. Officer Brown said this was the most efficient dismissal in TEN years! Of course, we will continue to reassess and expect that on rainy days, when we have additional K&R users, it will take longer.
Residents in the neighborhood asked us to send a reminder to please mind the speed limit, and to avoid making K-turns or using private driveways to turn around. As a reminder for PM Kiss & Ride families:
-
Right turns are restricted: Making a right turn into the Kiss & Ride entrance is now reserved strictly for school buses, daycare vans, and those parking in the lot.
-
New route for families: All other cars (minus those parking in the lot) will be directed to pass the Kiss & Ride entrance, turn around safely in the neighborhood, and drive back toward the school.
-
Wait for the signal: A transportation staff member wearing a bright yellow vest will direct traffic and signal drivers when Kiss & Ride is available for entry.
To further alleviate campus congestion, Dr. Reid strongly urges families with students assigned to a school bus to use the bus service whenever possible instead of Kiss & Ride. Read more in Dr. Reid’s message to families.
Immunizations
The Importance of the Flu Vaccination
The annual flu vaccine is the most effective way to protect your child from getting sick and to prevent the spread of illness within our classrooms. Staying up-to-date with your child's flu vaccination helps:
-
Reduce School Absences: Keeping students healthy means more time spent learning and engaging with peers.
-
Protect the Community: Vaccination helps shield vulnerable family members and neighbors from seasonal illness.
-
Support Overall Wellness: Routine flu shots are a key component of a proactive student health plan.
Upcoming Flu Shot Events
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will be providing flu shots for all FCPS students, ages 18 and under, with no out-of-pocket costs. Multiple events will be taking place at designated FCPS locations. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year. Parents or guardians may view upcoming events and schedule an appointment for their student. Participation is voluntary.
Encouraging Regular Attendance
Regular attendance is a good habit to establish in childhood. It can lead to greater success in high school, college, and careers. Teachers and students miss your child when they can’t make it to school. If you or your family need support, please reach out to your school's front office. We are here for you!
If students miss too much school, school staff may reach out to the family to partner with them on addressing barriers to regular attendance. Visit the FCPS website for attendance resources.
Download the ParentVUE App
New ParentVUE and StudentVUE mobile apps launched in July. Be sure to download the new app before winter break. After that time, you will need to use the new mobile app or a web browser to access ParentVUE or StudentVUE.
For instructions on installing the new apps and learning more about the updated login process, visit ParentVUE and StudentVUE mobile app resources. If you need assistance, please submit a Parent Support Request.

Help Your Student Stay Focused and Engaged Without Digital Distractions
Please remind your student that personal electronic communication or computing devices should be off and personally stored (i.e., in backpacks) for the duration of the school day: bell to bell.
This includes personal laptops, tablets, smartwatches, smartphones, and similar devices. Students can only use FCPS-issued devices for school-related digital activities during the instructional day. There are exceptions for students with disabilities and those enrolled in specific courses.
If you need to reach your student during the school day, please call the school’s front office. Learn more about the FCPS cellphone policy and device policy.

Native American Heritage Month
 |
|
Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native Americans. It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges they have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS. |
National Family Engagement Month
This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.
FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.
Additionally, every school has a family liaison who will welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development.
If you have questions or would like more information, ask your school office to connect you with your family liaison or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives.
