Thank you to all the families who joined us for Academic Night! It was a wonderful evening of learning, connection, and exploring. 📚✨
Dear Franklin Sherman Families,
This is a friendly reminder to please take a few minutes to talk with your child at home about treating others with kindness and respect. Remind them that their words and actions affect how others feel, and encourage them to tell a trusted adult if they experience or witness behavior that concerns them.
FCPS defines bullying as aggressive, unwanted behavior intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate someone. It involves a real or perceived power imbalance and is repeated over time or causes severe emotional trauma. Bullying includes cyberbullying. Ordinary teasing, horseplay, arguments, and peer conflict do not meet this definition.
Harassment can involve emotional abuse, threats, physical assaults, bullying, or theft. When bullying or harassment targets someone based on characteristics protected by law, it may also be discrimination. Suspected discrimination or harassment should be reported to the FCPS Office of Equity and Compliance.
When a bullying concern is reported, the assistant principal investigates by gathering information and speaking with students, staff, families, and others as needed. Retaliation against anyone involved is prohibited. After reviewing the available information, the school determines whether the allegation is founded and takes steps to prevent further bullying when appropriate. Parents or guardians of the students involved are notified of the investigation’s outcome.
Thank you for partnering with us to help every student feel safe, respected, and included.

Note to Families: Policy on Toys and Fidgets at School
We kindly ask that students do not bring toys or fidgets from home to school, unless your child's classroom teacher has specifically notified you about a special class celebration.
While we understand these items are fun, bringing toys and personal fidgets to school can create significant disruptions to learning. Additionally, personal items risk being lost, misplaced, or broken.
Support for Fidgets as Learning Tools
If your child requires a fidget to assist with emotional regulation or concentration during the school day, please contact Ms. Crummett, School Counselor, at SLCrummett1@fcps.edu Ms. Crummett will work directly with your child to teach them how to use a fidget as an effective learning tool and will provide a school-appropriate fidget for them to use and keep at school.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in maintaining a focused and positive learning environment for all of our students!
ATTENTION SACC Parents

Encouraging Regular Attendance
Regular attendance is a good habit to establish in childhood. It can lead to greater success in high school, college, and careers. Teachers and students miss your child when they can’t make it to school. If you or your family need support, please reach out to your school's front office. We are here for you!
If students miss too much school, school staff may reach out to the family to partner with them on addressing barriers to regular attendance. Visit the FCPS website for attendance resources.
Please Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

Please complete it as soon as possible. Schools will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, October 28.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is how we ensure we receive all the resources available to us from the federal government. For more information, please visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.
