A Message from the Administrative Team

Dear Ravensworth Families,

This week has been especially busy at Ravensworth ES.  Our 6th graders have been engaging in our SEL survey, we have started the NGAT assessment, and our students have started Unit 2 in our Literacy program "Benchmark." Our SOAR students were recognized on the news show and in the front office with a picture and by signing our new "Soaring Ravens" banner.

On behalf of our PTA, staff, and students, we want to remind you about our Friday Fun Night "Trunk or Treat" tomorrow night from 5:30 - 7:30PM.  Please join us for a fun evening of fellowship, games, and food trucks!

Sincerely,

Shannon Mueck and Amy Heiman

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible. Schools will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, October 28.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is how we ensure we receive all the resources available to us from the federal government. For more information, please visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Ravensworth Storybook Parade

To celebrate our "storybook parade", students are encouraged to dress up as a favorite book character on Friday, October 30th, 2026 at 9:15 am.

Students should bring a copy of a book that includes the character they are representing. The book must be one that the child has either read or listened to an adult read.

Guidelines for Book Character Costumes:

  • Characters must be age appropriate and from elementary or middle-grade level books.
  • Costumes may not involve book or other horror-type elements.
  • No weapons of any kind or masks that cover the entire face.
  • Costumes must allow students to take care of personnel needs, sit at desks, and participate in school and classroom activities throughout the day, including appropriate shoes for PE.

Schools and Buildings in the Renovation Queue Survey

What is a bond video

Whether you work in an FCPS school, have a child enrolled, or live near an FCPS school, please share your perspective on school facility needs and how FCPS prioritizes facility improvements.

Look for the survey that was emailed to you on Friday, October 16. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. The survey will remain open until Saturday, October 31.

Did You Know? Bond Referendums Fund Facility Renovations

FCPS does not pay for facility renovations out of its general operating budget. Instead, Fairfax County voters decide on how much money FCPS can spend on capital improvement projects through bond referendums. Bonds are issued by the county to the school division and allow FCPS to renovate buildings without increasing taxes.

Learn more about bond referendums and how they support our schools on the Bond Referendum webpage.

Encouraging Regular Attendance

Attendance2

Regular attendance is a good habit to establish in childhood. It can lead to greater success in high school, college, and careers. Teachers and students miss your child when they can’t make it to school. If you or your family need support, please reach out to your school's front office. We are here for you!

If students miss too much school, school staff may reach out to the family to partner with them on addressing barriers to regular attendance. Visit the FCPS website for attendance resources.
