Classroom Spotlight: AP Calculus BC and Applied Calculus
It was wonderful dropping into math classes over the past few days. Students were deeply engaged in high levels of learning in Mr. Whang’s AP Calculus BC class, where he skillfully infuses humor as students dive into challenging concepts. Down the hall in Mrs. Mortensen’s Applied Calculus class, students were actively collaborating to solve real-world problems examining revenue and rates of change for eBay.
Classroom Spotlight: AP Psychology
Students in Katie Sanfield’s AP Psychology classes recently brought textbook concepts to life through an interactive, multi-sensory lab investigating how the brain processes everyday sensations. Read all about how students connected their daily experiences to human biology and cognitive science.
Athletics Spotlight: Varsity Cheer
Congratulations to the Westfield cheerleading team for finishing as district runner-up at the district finals. They have done an incredible job all fall season, and we can't wait to cheer them on at Regionals on Saturday, October 31st, at Centreville High School. A huge shout-out to our amazing Director of Student Activities, Mr. Bumgardner, and our Assistant DSA, Mr. Sholders, for their unwavering support of our student-athletes. Go Bulldogs!
WHS DECA continues to shine!
October has been an exceptional month for our chapter! 100 care packages were delivered to a local oncology office as a part of our sup. Our members recently competed at the annual District Leadership Conference at Oakton, bringing home remarkable results to include 16 top-4 and 50+ top-10 finishes. To close out October, entrepreneurship students have spent recent weeks painting pumpkins to support our community, placing them around the school and local area. The grade level that finds and photographs the most pumpkins will win a prize. Be sure to check out more DECA updates on social media.

Inspiring Morgan's Message
Students recently came together to promote mental health and wellness by creating encouraging posters for our student-athletes. These positive messages will be displayed throughout our locker rooms to inspire team spirit and mutual support. It’s wonderful to see our Bulldogs channeling such uplifting energy into caring for one another. We look forward to continuing to see updates from this group.
