Hispanic Heritage Month- Our students kicked off the month by painting our rock and celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a Spirit Week honoring Hispanic contributions and culture. The Hispanic Leadership Club did an amazing job performing dances to a variety of Latin music at the Pep Rally. Our Spanish Honor Society proudly inducted 51 new members, and our AP Spanish students did a fantastic job representing 33 influential Hispanic figures from 20 Spanish-speaking countries. We are proud of our students for celebrating, honoring, and showcasing the richness and diversity of Hispanic heritage!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Please Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible. Schools will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, October 28.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is how we ensure we receive all the resources available to us from the federal government. For more information, please visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Letters from Santa
Our National Art Honor Society at West Potomac High School is excited to announce a heartwarming holiday fundraiser: Letters from Santa! This December, our talented art students will be creating personalized, handwritten letters for children from Santa Claus or Frosty the Snowman, each with custom artwork to make it extra special. Every letter will be mailed from the North Pole on December 14th, just in time for the holiday season!
Each letter is crafted uniquely for each child and offers a magical experience, while also supporting our school’s art programs and encouraging our young artists.
Thank you for supporting our students and sharing in the holiday spirit!

WPHS Community Walks in Remembrance and to Raise Awareness
On October 17, members of the West Potomac High School community came together for the DC Out of the Darkness Walk in remembrance of Kristeen Schlak (’28), who passed away in December 2025. Liliana Langone (’28) served as team captain of the Hearts 4 Kristeen team, which raised more than $20,000 with more than 155 walkers (the largest team roster at the event). The DC Walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a national movement dedicated to changing the conversation around mental health. Kristeen’s mom, Magda, and sister, Dena (’28) spoke during the event about the impact of Kristeen’s loss and how they hope the Walk can help others find hope.
