Learning is fun with Ms. Pekarik!

📝Letter from Principal Prindle

Dear Families,

It has been an extraordinary week here at our school from the past week:

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our Kindergarten students had a wonderful time visiting Cox Farms! They enjoyed exploring nature, learning about seasonal changes, and creating memorable experiences with their classmates and teachers outside the classroom.

Prioritizing School Safety

Safety remains our highest priority. This week, our leadership team and staff completed our annual Tabletop Crisis Plan review alongside representatives from the Central Office. Every year, we thoroughly update and review our safety protocols to ensure we are following the most current, effective practices to keep our students and staff safe every day.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

We were delighted to host a special breakfast for our valued local business partners. We are deeply grateful to partner closely with the Jewish Community Center (JCC), St. Matthew’s, and Andrew Gause’s Martial Arts, all of which provide high-quality childcare and support services for our families. Thank you for your continued dedication to our school community!

PTA Fun Run Success: Over $50,000 Raised!

We capped off our week on a high note with our Annual Fun Run! A huge thank you to Khanh Stenberg for leading this amazing effort, and to all of our incredible volunteers who cheered on our students and kept the energy high. Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we raised more than $50,000+ to directly support our PTA programs and enrich our students’ educational experiences!

Woodson Pyramid Pride

To round out the week, Principal Prindle will be participating in the Woodson High School Homecoming Parade! The close-knit connections across our Woodson pyramid help build a strong, supportive K–12 experience for all of our students as they grow.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in making our school community such a vibrant place to learn and grow. Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Sharyn Prindle

Principal

Community Conversations with Superintendent Reid

Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.

A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Events are planned for the following dates at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted):

Registration links will be shared soon. Childcare and interpretation services will be provided. Events are one-hour long and open to all. Find out about other opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.

Federal Impact Aid Survey Due

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets, which is in the upper right corner of the screen after logging in. Please complete it as soon as possible. Schools will provide paper forms to families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE starting Wednesday, October 28.

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is how we ensure we receive all the resources available to us from the federal government. For more information, please visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.

Please note that only the parent who registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey. Please fill out these forms even if you don't think the program applies to you.

To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.

  • Computer (Recommended): Log in to ParentVUE using Google Chrome, click Online Packets, select Federal Impact Aid Survey at the bottom.
  • ParentVue App: Log in to ParentVUE, select Online Registration, tap Impact Aid at the bottom.

You will know you have completed all of the forms when you get to the final page and see a green check next to each of your students' names.

If you need any help logging in to ParentVUE, or completing the form, please contact Soudad Albermani at salbermani@fcps.edu.

The Importance of the Flu Vaccination

  • The annual flu vaccine is the most effective way to protect your child from getting sick and to prevent the spread of illness within our classrooms. Staying up-to-date with your child's flu vaccination helps:
  • Reduce School Absences: Keeping students healthy means more time spent learning and engaging with peers.
  • Protect the Community: Vaccination helps shield vulnerable family members and neighbors from seasonal illness.
  • Support Overall Wellness: Routine flu shots are a key component of a proactive student health plan.

Upcoming Flu Shot Events

FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will be providing flu shots for all FCPS students, ages 18 and under, with no out-of-pocket costs. Multiple events will be taking place at designated FCPS locations. Additional dates will be made available throughout the school year. Parents or guardians may view upcoming events and schedule an appointment for their student. Participation is voluntary.
