A lot of fun learning in Franklin this week-students making dirt cups in connection to their Holes unit, an interactive lesson in English, a fun game in science classes.
Theater students practicing for the fall musical; Band students particpating in middle school night at Oakton HS.
Franklin Community,
We had a wonderful evening at Franklin last night for our Fall Showcase! We had a tremendous turnout and enjoyed performances from our band, chorus, and orchestra students, with skits from our theater students between songs. The showcase also featured a rolling slideshow of artwork created by our students. Thank you to Ms. Magwire, Ms. Mortensen, Mr. Ayars, Ms. Bello, and Ms. Lanyi-Lari for all of their hard work in making the event such a success. It was a great celebration of the arts, and I look forward to many more!
Boo Grams will be for sale during lunches on Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27. Students can send one to brighten a friend’s day, and the Boo Grams will be delivered during Advisory on Wednesday. We love seeing students recognize and celebrate one another, and we thank Ms. Gallagher for organizing this fun opportunity!
A reminder that Friday, October 30, is a two-hour early release day and the last day of the quarter. We know many students will want to dress up for Halloween, and we encourage them to join in the fun. Please remind your student that costumes should not obscure their face, be overly violent, or violate the county dress code.
I also want to acknowledge the recent instances of racial language used at Franklin. We are committed to working with our students to create a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. On Monday, students will participate in an Advisory lesson focused on inclusion and preventing discrimination, hate speech, and slurs. We will also continue to provide additional learning opportunities for students who have used this type of language. Every student deserves to feel respected and safe at school, and we appreciate your partnership as we continue this important work.
Lastly, our Cross Country team will compete at Franklin tomorrow morning, with the meet starting at 8:00am. All are welcome to come cheer on our Falcons!
Have a great weekend, and Go Falcons!
