We hope you had a great fall weekend! Our staff had a productive day of learning together on Monday during our School Planning Day.

Exciting learning is in full swing across all of our classrooms and during field trips.  Thank you for sending your child in a Lemon Road polo for all field trips.

We are looking forward to the Book Fair, Family Night, Restaurant Nights, Veteran's Day recognitions, and our annual Variety Show!   Variety Show auditions are this week. Email Ms. Carlin with any Variety Show questions (alcarlin@fcps.edu).

LRES Book Fair Coming Soon

Each year, Lemon Road holds a book fair that extends during the school day as well as one evening for family shopping.  The books and materials are delivered on November 12. Lemon Road students can shop during the school day OR by coming to Family Night on Thursday, November 19.  Join us to shop, volunteer, set up, or break down.  If you are available, email Ms. Gabby Burke at goburke@fcps.edu.

Currently featured in our library is a Civil War artifact recovered in the spring from a current Lemon Road 4th grader!  How amazing to have a strong connection between our school and history.

Grades 3 - 6 PE Bicycle Unit

Lemon Road will be starting our bike riding unit for grades 3 - 6 in PE. It will start on Wednesday November 4th and end on November 24th. During PE, we take precautions that your child will be safe the entire time they ride, including wearing helmets, hairnets (if using a shared helmet), and teaching students proper bike safety. We ask all students wear athletic clothes (no dresses or baggy clothing during PE) and those with long hair to wear it pulled back.

Students may bring their own helmet and/or bicycle.  Students may ride their bike to school and lock it on the bike rack hear Door 6.  There are also additional bike racks hear the flagpole at Door 1.  Thanks for helping your child have the most success possible in this PE unit!  Email with us with any questions.

LRES PTA Updates

October PTA Meeting

Our PTA is hard at work.  Thank you Room Parents for helping ensure all students have a polo for their fall field trips. Here are current PTA initiatives:

  1. Donate your gently used coats and winter gear: For the month of October, the PTA is collecting gently used coats and winter gear of any size. The coats are washed and then exchanged with other local schools to ensure all kids have warm gear for the winter.
  2. Restaurant Night: Our next restaurant night is at Plaka Grill on October 20 from 11 AM - 9 PM.
  3. Movie Night: This Friday, October 23 is the next movie night! The voting is open for Minons & Monsters, Toy Story 5 or Wild Robot. Please sign up to help with concessions or donate items.
  4. Mabel's Labels: As the weather gets cooler, the number of jackets left behind in lost and found grows! The PTA has partnered with Mabel's Labels to help you get quality labels for your kids items! Just enter in Lemon Road PTA in the search bar.
  5. Have your child enter the National PTA Reflections Contest. Lemon Road is participating in the National PTA's Reflections Art contest! Encourage your child to interpret this year's theme "What My Culture Means to Me" and submit in one or more art categories including visual arts, photography, film, music composition, choreography, and literature.

We Need YOU:  Joining the PTA is a key indicator that you support the school-home partnership that we foster.  Email lemonroadpta@gmail.com to get involved!

Understanding Reading Assessments and Your Child

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 10- 11:30 AM

In this webinar, we're diving into how our schools measure your child's reading skills and how you can use that info to help them thrive! We’ll break down two key tests: VALLSS, which acts as an early warning system to catch reading strengths and weaknesses and pinpoint who needs extra support, and i-Ready, an adaptive assessment that tracks your child’s grade-level progress and personal growth all year long. Together, these tools look at the full picture of your child's reading—from sounding out words and building vocabulary to reading smoothly and actually understanding the story. You'll walk away knowing what those score reports really mean, how to chat about them with your child's teacher, and easy ways to boost their reading confidence right at home!
