What an amazing week it has been at Fairfax Villa! Our building has been filled with excitement, meaningful learning, and wonderful opportunities for students to connect with one another. It has been such a joy to see our students learning, growing, and building relationships throughout the week. These moments remind us of what makes Fairfax Villa such a special place to learn and grow!
We are also excited to announce that nominations for FCPS Honors are officially open! We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring staff who go above and beyond each day to support our students, families, and school community. We encourage you to consider nominating a Fairfax Villa staff member who has made a positive impact on your child or family. Taking a few moments to submit a nomination is a meaningful way to celebrate and recognize the amazing educators and staff members who make Fairfax Villa such a wonderful place. We are excited to kick off another year of Family Literacy Bags! These bags are filled with engaging books and activities designed to bring families together through reading, strengthen literacy skills, and inspire a lifelong love of books. We hope they encourage special moments of reading, learning, and connecting as a family and become a fun and meaningful part of your time together at home!
WHY: Reading at-home with your children is important to their reading and writing development. Children hear fluent reading, can discuss their understanding, and learn new vocabulary from reading a book with an adult.
HOW: To request a bag, follow these steps:
- Fill out the permission form (one time only).
- Complete the Literacy Bag request Google form by Wednesday each week you would like a bag to come home.
- The requested bag will come home with your student on Thursdays. Please return them the following Tuesday.
- Have fun exploring and reading together!
If you have worked with an outstanding employee at Fairfax Villa, FCPS wants your help recognizing them. Dragon families are invited to nominate staff members for recognition!

Come out and celebrate with us as we show our school spirit, cheer on our community, and enjoy this special tradition together. We hope to see our families, friends, and community members lining the streets to make this a memorable event for everyone!

K-6th grade classes will be participating in Family Life Education (FLE) lessons beginning in December. (Be on the look out for communication from teachers regarding the specific dates).
The Woodson Pyramid will be hosting a Virtual Parent Preview Night for FLE on October 21st from 5:30-6:00PM. This event provides an opportunity to ask questions and receive assistance in accessing the materials virtually.

Cat Wilkins, Fairfax Villa’s Advanced Academics Resource Teacher (AART), will be sharing detailed information about the Full-Time AAP screening process in a virtual parent meeting on Tuesday, October 27, at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is intended for parents of 2nd-6th grade students who are interested in referring them for Full-Time AAP services. The deadline for Full-Time referrals is December 15.

Mrs. Wilkins previously presented an overview of AAP services at a meeting on 9/29/26. Veteran’s Day is coming up on November 11.
Fairfax Villa E.S. would like to honor families with military connections. As in past years, we will be putting together a Veteran’s Wall display. If you have a military connection you would like to honor – active, retired or deceased – please fill out the google form. Please fill out a separate form for each military family member.

English Conversation Group for Beginners: Join our in-person English classes for parents and caregivers right here at our school! Learn useful everyday English, practice speaking, and build your confidence while connecting with other families. This class is designed especially for beginners. Lessons start on October 14 - December 16, 2026 at 10:30-12:30. Please fill out this registration form to participate.
English Conversation Group for Intermediates: Join us for a fun and engaging conversation group where you can build confidence and strengthen your spoken English skills while connecting with supportive school staff and other parents. The 10-week program is on Thursdays from 5:45-6:45 pm. Classes begin on October 1st in the Fairfax Villa Library. We’d love to have you participate! Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.
A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Events are planned for the following dates at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted):
