A Message from the Principal

Dear Belle View Families,

In case you missed it, last Friday our awesome 5th-grade classes were featured on Fox 5 DC for their coverage of Arm & Hammer Rocket Day! It was a fabulous afternoon of hands-on learning and high-flying fun—check out the link below to read all about it!

To top it off, yesterday’s Fun Run was a tremendous success! The students had an absolute blast, and thanks to your incredible generosity, we surpassed our $35,000 fundraising goal!

A special thank you to Amy Derrington and Daniel Burgner for MCing the festivities and keeping the energy high, and a huge shout-out to our fabulous PTA—we couldn't have done this without you.

It’s not too late to show your support! The donation site remains open through Monday, October 18th. Thank you for making this week so unforgettable for our school community!

Here is the Rocket Launch link as featured on the FCPS website.

I look forward to seeing you around the View! 🐾

FCPS Seeks Community Input on Middle School AAP Centers FCPS is exploring a plan to offer Full-Time Advanced Academic Program (AAP) services at every middle school. Under the proposal, students who qualify could attend their neighborhood middle school and take advanced classes with other AAP students. The School Board has approved community engagement at Franklin, Hayfield, Holmes, Key, and Whitman middle schools, where programs could open for the 2027-28 school year. The proposal is still under consideration, and the School Board is expected to make a decision in December.

Each community meeting offers in-person and virtual participation. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for:

  • Whitman Middle: Thursday, October 22, at 6 p.m.

Current middle school students will remain at their assigned AAP centers through middle school. Learn more and find meeting sign-up forms on the Middle School AAP Centers page.
