In addition to our homecoming festivities, today marks the first day of the school year that parents can complete the Federal Impact Aid Form in ParentVUE. This is an incredibly important task for our school community. Roughly 10% of our Woodson student body is military-connected, and many of our families work for the federal government. Completing this form allows our school to receive crucial federal funding that directly supports student learning and resources. Every family should fill out the form regardless of where you work, and I am told it takes less than one minute to complete. Please log in to ParentVUE, select the ‘Online Packets’ tab in the top right of the screen. The survey is one of several tiles located under ‘Packet Descriptions’. Complete the form today so we can reach our goal of 100% participation.
Looking ahead, our annual Woodson Career Fair will take place on November 10th from 9:45 AM to 11:15 AM. We are actively looking for professionals from a wide variety of career fields to share their industry experiences with our students. If you, a family member, a friend, or a community contact might be interested in participating, please feel free to view and forward this link.
We also need your assistance with our cell phone policy when you need to pick up your student early. Please note that student cell phones must remain off and away throughout the entire school day. Because phones are not accessible during class time, texting or calling your student to arrange an early pick-up will not reach them. If you need to arrange an early pick-up, please send a note with your student. If it is a last minute check out please call the attendance line at 703-503-4800, option 3, so we can notify your student. Please note last minute check outs can take up to 30 minutes.
Thank you so much for your continued partnership and support, and we look forward to seeing our whole community come out for a fantastic Haunted HOCO!
Warm regards,
Kevin Greata

AP Testing Opt-Out Letters
2026-27 AP/IB Test Registration, Opt-Out Timeline, and Fees
As part of the FCPS Approved Budget, the fees for the first six AP/IB tests taken for courses in which students are enrolled for high school credit will be paid for by FCPS. Students taking AP tests without enrolling in the corresponding FCPS course are responsible for the test fee(s).
FCPS encourages all students to take AP tests for courses in which they are enrolled. However, students will have the opportunity to opt out of the test(s) by filling out an Opt Out form to be provided by the school during class this week. To assist in the decision-making process, students will be provided a report with their previous tests and current AP/IB course enrollment.
Regardless of FCPS opt out decision, students enrolled in any AP course must register for their associated AP test(s) in AP Classroom by October 30th. Instructions for this process have been provided by classroom teachers. Students who register after this date may incur a $40 late registration fee. Students who do not register by March 12th will not be able to take the exam(s) and applicable assessed exam fees will not be refunded.
AP students must make Opt Out decisions by October 30th by returning the form they receive to Student Services. Student accounts will be billed in December for tests that exceed the six FCPS-funded tests. The nonrefundable fees are $99 per AP exam.
2027 AP Testing
Reference the College Board AP exam dates site for dates of AP Exams.

We are looking for professionals from a variety of career fields to share their experiences with our students. If you have a family member, friend, or community contact who may be interested, please forward our Career Fair RSVP Form to them. Deadline to register is Nov 2.

If your children qualify for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FRM), they may also be eligible for:

Information about scholarships, classes, and services from non-FCPS agencies and organizations.
To receive these additional benefits, you must give written consent allowing FCPS staff to share your children's meal eligibility status with administrators, school counselors and the school's finance technician. This information will not be shared with any other parties.
The Consent to Share is available here in multiple languages. Copies are available in Student Services, as well.
Families who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals can receive breakfast and lunch at no cost for their children. This includes more than one-third of FCPS students. Families must complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FRM) application before the start of each school year.
The application for FRM is now available for the 2026-27 school year. Students who were approved for FRM last year are eligible for the first 30 days of school this year (or until a new application is processed). Families should reapply as soon as possible so eligible children continue to receive meals at no cost.
Access the application and view criteria and up-to-date information on the FRM webpage. Families should reach out to their schools with questions or for assistance.
