Dear Jag Families,
As we approach the end of the first quarter (October 30th), we want to celebrate the hard work and dedication our Jags have shown so far!
To help every student finish the quarter strong, we encourage families to review current progress together. Under FCPS's Rolling Gradebook system, grades build continuously throughout the year rather than resetting each quarter. Starting Quarter 2 with a solid academic foundation helps prevent students from feeling overwhelmed later.
After-School Support Options: If your student needs extra help or time to complete assignments, two great options are available:
-
Teacher Office Hours: Students can stay after school directly with their classroom teachers on any school day. Students need to arrange this with their teachers.
- Attendance & Academic Recovery Program:
-
When: Wednesdays & Thursdays | 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
-
Where: Room 1081 (students report immediately after dismissal)
-
Transportation: Wednesdays include late bus transportation. On Thursdays, families must arrange student pick-up.
Attendance Recovery Expectation: Students with 10 or more absences are expected to attend these after-school recovery sessions to make up missed instructional time and catch up on coursework.
We are here to partner with you to ensure your child’s success. Thank you for working with us to keep our Jags present, supported, and thriving!

Dear FCPS Families,
The Federal Impact Aid program provides money to districts that enroll federally connected students. Help FCPS secure funding from the Impact Aid Program by helping us identify:
- Military families.
- Federally connected families.
- Families living on a military base.
Please complete one form for each child in your household. Remember that only the parent that registered the student with FCPS (the ‘enrolling parent’) can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.
For families without access to ParentVUE, a paper copy of the form will be sent home with your student starting October 28. Your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Your support will ensure that we receive the resources for which we are eligible.
If you choose to use the ParentVUE app, after signing in, click on ‘Online Registration’. From there, find the Impact Aid button on the bottom of the page to continue to the Impact Aid Survey Form. Depending on your phone’s make, model, and settings, these directions may not work. If you are not able to complete the form using the ParentVUE app, please use Google Chrome to complete the survey.
To access the Impact Aid Form from your computer or mobile device, we recommend using Google Chrome.
-
Step 1: Log in to Your SIS ParentVUE account or type sisparent.fcps.edu into your Chrome address bar to be taken to SIS ParentVUE. If you don’t have a SIS ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation letter.
-
Step 2: After you’ve logged into your ParentVue Account, look for the ‘Online Packets’ link at the top of the page. Click ‘Online Packets’.
-
Step 3: Next, click the ‘Federal Impact Aid Survey’ button on the bottom of the page. This will take you to the Impact Aid Survey for you to complete.
If you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child. You will know you have completed all of the forms when you get to the final page, and see a green check next to each of their names.
Thank you!
Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors interested in a future in law, government, or public policy are invited to apply for the School Board’s Student Leadership Development Program. Share Your Thoughts on Schools and Buildings in the Renovation Queue Survey
The Office of the Chief of Facilities Services and Capital Programs is seeking input from community members, families, and employees about school facility needs and how FCPS prioritizes facility improvements.
Whether you work in an FCPS school, have a child enrolled, or live near an FCPS school, please share your perspective. The survey asks about building conditions, how facilities affect teaching and learning, renovation priorities, and what information would help you better understand this process.
Look for the survey in your email on Friday, October 16. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. The survey will remain open until Saturday, October 31.
Did You Know? Bond Referendums Fund Facility Renovations
FCPS does not pay for facility renovations out of its general operating budget. Instead, Fairfax County voters decide on how much money FCPS can spend on capital improvement projects through bond referendums. Bonds are issued by the county to the school division and allow FCPS to renovate buildings without increasing taxes.
Learn more about bond referendums and how they support our schools on the Bond Referendum webpage.
