Next week (October 19th–23rd) is National Digital Citizenship Awareness Week! Throughout the week, we will be focusing on essential "Dig Cit" concepts each morning to help our students build safe, responsible, and healthy technology habits. To make learning fun, we are hosting a Spirit Week.
Below is a breakdown of each spirit day, what your child can wear, and the purpose behind it so you can keep the conversation going at home!
Monday: Super Vision (Oct 19th)

-
Spirit Day: Students wear fun glasses or a hat (thinking cap) to show they are ready to spot the truth online.
-
The Why: We are teaching kids to pause and think critically about the media they consume. Just like looking both ways before crossing the street, kids are learning to evaluate if online information is credible, spot AI-generated content, and ask questions like, "Who made this, and why?"
Tuesday: Secret Identity (Oct 20th)

-
Spirit Day: Students dress like superheroes (shirt, logo, or colors) to remember to keep their personal information safe behind their hero emblem.
-
The Why: This day focuses on digital privacy. We want students to understand the importance of safeguarding their personal information, passwords, and location, and to be mindful of what apps and websites are trying to collect from them.
Wednesday: Leave a Heroic Mark (Oct 21st)

-
Spirit Day: Students rock fun footwear (crazy socks or shoes) to represent the positive digital footprints they choose to make every day.
-
The Why: Everything we click, post, or share leaves a permanent trail. This day encourages students to act with agency and intention online, ensuring the "footprint" they leave behind is responsible, helpful, and something they can be proud of.
Thursday: Dynamic Duo/Squad (Oct 22nd)

-
Spirit Day: Students match a friend, dress like a superhero squad, or wear red to show that kindness is their ultimate superpower.
-
The Why: The digital world needs upstanders. This day is all about online community, combatting cyberbullying, and using technology to support our friends and spread positivity.
Friday: Power Down & Recharge (Oct 23rd)

-
Spirit Day: Students wear comfy clothes/pajamas to celebrate turning off screens and giving their superhero brains time to rest.
-
The Why: Apps and games use design tricks—like infinite scrolling, autoplay, and daily streaks—to keep us glued to our screens. We are teaching students to recognize these tricks so they can set healthy boundaries, step away from the tech, and recharge offline.
