Roadrunner Roundup
Dear Little Run Families,
Following up on our message earlier this week, we want to take one more moment to share how proud we are of our students, staff, and community for our school's recognition as a Distinguished school under Virginia’s School Performance and Support Framework. This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work, joy, and dedication that happen in our classrooms every single day. Thank you for your continued partnership and support!
Looking ahead, we have a busy and exciting week coming up:
Parent/Family Coffee - October 22: Join us to hear from our Mental Health Team! They will be sharing valuable resources and strategies used right here at Little Run to support our students.
Digital Citizenship Spirit Week: Next week, we will be celebrating Digital Citizenship Spirit Week! We invite all students to participate in the fun daily dress-up themes as we learn what it means to be safe, responsible, and respectful digital citizens.
PTA Roadrunner Games - October 24: We are so excited for our big PTA event next weekend! Come out for a energetic morning of games, teamwork, and community fundraising.
Reminder: Today is the last day to register for the Roadrunner Games, so don't miss out on the fun!
Thank you for being such a supportive part of our Little Run family. We look forward to seeing everyone at next week's events!
Sincerely,
Christie Yarn, Principal Alison Butler, Assistant Principal

You'll learn about the core SEL principles integrated into our school community, explore the specialized resources available to your child, and discover practical strategies we use to support their emotional growth, resilience, and well-being.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with our staff, ask questions, and learn how we can partner together to help your student thrive both inside and outside the classroom. We look forward to seeing you there!
Digital Citizenship Spirit Week
October 19-23
During Digital Citizenship Week, students will explore five connected topics. Lessons and discussions are age-appropriate, and families are invited to continue the conversations at home using the prompts below.
Monday - Think Critically and wear your favorite hat! Help your child ask questions about information and media and check where it came from before believing or sharing.
Tuesday - Pause & Protect and wear red to remind us to stop and stay safe online. Talk with your child about personal information, safe choices, and asking a trusted adult for help when something online feels confusing or uncomfortable.
Wednesday - Show What Matters by wearing crazy socks. Help your child understand that online actions and shared information can leave a digital trail and influence how others see us.
Thursday - Connected by Kindness and wear a positive shirt to build healthy connections, respect boundaries and stand up to negativity. Talk about communicating kindly, including others, and getting help when technology affects someone's feelings or friendships.
Friday - Recharge Day and wear your coziest pajamas and take time to recharge away from a screen. Notice how technology affects focus, feelings, and routines, and discuss habits or breaks that support well being.
For more resources check out common sense media!

This is the perfect chance to read together at home and brainstorm a simple, homemade costume. Pull out those hats, props, and old clothes—no need to buy anything new!
Keep the Magic Safe!
For the safety and comfort of everyone, please ensure outfits are not violent or scary. Masks, weapons, and dangerous-looking items are strictly prohibited.
Talk with your child about their character choice; sharing their story will be the best part of the day! We look forward to seeing our school filled with characters from countless stories!

Share Your Feedback on Traveling to and From School
The FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are asking families to share their experiences traveling to and from their child’s school. The feedback will help inform the Fairfax County School Board’s annual assessment of traffic and pedestrian safety near schools.
The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss-and-ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.
Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security. The five-minute survey is open through Thursday, October 15.
Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.
