Book Character Day!
Friday October 23, 2026
Students and staff are invited to celebrate a love of reading by dressing up as a favorite character from a beloved book. This special day is all about bringing stories to life, sharing the joy of books, and showing how much we value reading in our school community. We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative costumes and the stories that inspire them!
Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from a book, not a movie or cartoon. Please make sure that your child’s costume is appropriate for school: no weapons, no masks, and no scary costumes. Creativity is encouraged! We look forward to seeing what book your students love the most!
Family Science Night is Coming to our School Tuesday October 27th
The Children’s Science Center Lab is bringing their Family Science Night Program to Centre Ridge.
Family Science Night offers a variety of engaging, hands-on science activities such as Stacking Currency: Building Financial Literacy, Superhero Species: Creating with Probability, Forensic Fun: Mystery Solved, among several others. These experiments are specially designed to help encourage students to take interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects, as well as to encourage students to develop curiosity in everyday life situations.
Young children are natural scientists, rationally making observations, testing hypotheses, analyzing data and reaching conclusions.
Join us on October 27th 6:00-7:30pm to help keep our students engaged and excited about STEM subjects. We hope to see you there!
Bring the whole family for an evening of fun, discovery and science learning!

Share Your Thoughts on Schools and Buildings in the Renovation Queue Survey
The Office of the Chief of Facilities Services and Capital Programs is seeking input from community members, families, and employees about school facility needs and how FCPS prioritizes facility improvements.
Whether you work in an FCPS school, have a child enrolled, or live near an FCPS school, please share your perspective. The survey asks about building conditions, how facilities affect teaching and learning, renovation priorities, and what information would help you better understand this process.
Look for the survey in your email on Friday, October 16. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. The survey will remain open until Saturday, October 31.
Did You Know? Bond Referendums Fund Facility Renovations
FCPS does not pay for facility renovations out of its general operating budget. Instead, Fairfax County voters decide on how much money FCPS can spend on capital improvement projects through bond referendums. Bonds are issued by the county to the school division and allow FCPS to renovate buildings without increasing taxes.
Learn more about bond referendums and how they support our schools on the Bond Referendum webpage.
