A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Hello, Chantilly Families and Students,

We had an outstanding week at Chantilly, and we’re charged up by all the positive things happening across our school! We are proud that our 2025–26 VDOE results recognize Chantilly as a Distinguished School, with a score of 102.61, exceeding standards, and achieving full accreditation—reflecting student outcomes in achievement, graduation, and readiness for what comes next.

The Class of 2028 had an amazing time experiencing Think Fast, an interactive, game-show-style program filled with high energy, great music, and friendly competition—all while sharing important driver safety messages. Through exciting challenges, students explored the importance of staying alert, avoiding distractions, and making safe decisions behind the wheel.

Our peer mentors also had a wonderful week of engagement and training as they continued building the skills to support and connect with fellow students. And today, we welcomed 65 student visitors from Chungnam School for Science and Technology in South Korea, with student leaders from our SGA Executive Board and Korean 4 hosting tours. Our guests were impressed by Chantilly’s wide range of post-secondary preparation programs and the opportunities our students enjoy in performing arts, athletics, and activities.

We’re also excited to celebrate our outstanding employees—please consider submitting a nomination to recognize the people who make Chantilly such a special community.

I hope to see many of you this evening as we host South Lakes for a home Football game at 7 PM, where we will recognize the 30th anniversary of our 1996 State Championship. Come out and support our Charger athletes and musicians!

✨DO YOU KNOW AN AMAZING EMPLOYEE? ✨

We are now accepting nominations to recognize our outstanding employees at Chantilly for the 2026 - 2027 school year! If you have worked with an outstanding employee at Chantilly, FCPS wants your help recognizing them. Charger colleagues, students, and families are invited to nominate:

  • Outstanding Teacher
  • Outstanding New Teacher
  • Outstanding Professional Staff Leader
  • Outstanding Educational Services Employee
  • Outstanding Operational Services Employee
  • Outstanding Principal

Thank you for supporting our outstanding Charger Staff!"

EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURE REMINDERS:

If your early dismissal request for your student is submitted to the Attendance Office by 10:00 A.M., you do not have to enter the building for your student to be released. You may choose to remain in your vehicle or wait outside the building. Your student will be issued a physical check-out pass that allows them to leave the building on their own.

Students are required to show their check-out pass to their class period teacher to be released from class and/or exit the school building at their scheduled dismissal time.

It is the student’s responsibility to pick up their pass during:

  • A hallway transition time (in-between classes)
  • Before 11:20 A.M. (before lunches start)

Please remind your student of their scheduled early dismissal and to pick up their pass. The Attendance Office cannot provide reminders to each student with an early dismissal. Thank you!

Let’s make 2026–2027 an outstanding year as we Carry the CHARGE together. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.

Thanks,

Amy Goodloe, Ed.D., Principal

Renovation Queue Survey

Share Your Thoughts on Schools and Buildings in the Renovation Queue SurveyThe Office of the Chief of Facilities Services and Capital Programs is seeking input from community members, families, and employees about school facility needs and how FCPS prioritizes facility improvements.

Whether you work in an FCPS school, have a child enrolled, or live near an FCPS school, please share your perspective. The survey asks about building conditions, how facilities affect teaching and learning, renovation priorities, and what information would help you better understand this process.

Look for the survey in your email on Friday, October 16. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. The survey will remain open until Saturday, October 31.

Did You Know? Bond Referendums Fund Facility Renovations

FCPS does not pay for facility renovations out of its general operating budget. Instead, Fairfax County voters decide on how much money FCPS can spend on capital improvement projects through bond referendums. Bonds are issued by the county to the school division and allow FCPS to renovate buildings without increasing taxes.

Learn more about bond referendums and how they support our schools on the Bond Referendum webpage.

Fairfax County is in the very early concept stage of exploring the possibility of redeveloping the Chantilly Regional Library site to include a new regional library, affordable housing, and a new technical operations facility.  Learn More. This page contains information on the project and a FAQ page.

Marching Band, Drumline, and Color Guard Practice

When the parking lot between the school and baseball field is being used by the Marching Band, Drumline, and Color Guard for practice (generally after school between 3:30 to 9 p.m.), please do not drive on any part of it.  This boundary is marked by cones and barriers while these teams practice and driving into this area risks both the safety of our students as well as potential damage to the team’s instruments, equipment, and electronics.  A map outlining this boundary is included below.

2026-27 AP Test Registration, Opt-Out Timeline, and Fees

As part of the FCPS Approved Budget, the fees for the first six AP tests taken for courses in which students are enrolled for high school credit will be paid for by FCPS. Students taking AP tests without enrolling in the corresponding FCPS course are responsible for the test fee(s).

FCPS encourages all students to take AP tests for courses in which they are enrolled. However, students will have the opportunity to opt out of the test(s) by filling out an Opt Out form to be provided by Homeroom teachers. To assist in the decision-making process, students will be provided a report with their previous tests and current AP course enrollment.

Regardless of FCPS opt out decision, students enrolled in any AP course must register for their associated AP test(s) in AP Classroom by October 30th. Instructions for this process have been provided by classroom teachers. Students who register after this date may incur a $40 late registration fee. Students who do not register by March 12th will not be able to take the exam(s) and applicable assessed exam fees will not be refunded.

AP students must make Opt Out decisions by October 30th. Student accounts will be billed in December for tests that exceed the six FCPS-funded tests. The nonrefundable fees are $99 per AP exam.

Share Your Feedback on Traveling to and From School

The FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are asking families to share their experiences traveling to and from their child’s school. The feedback will help inform the Fairfax County School Board’s annual assessment of traffic and pedestrian safety near schools.

The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss-and-ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.

Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security. The five-minute survey is open through Thursday, October 15.

Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.

Calendar Update and Family Feedback

Calendar Change: Eid al-Fitr

FCPS will mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr with an evening-only observance day on Monday, March 8. There will be school on this day, but major school-sponsored events and activities (such as auditions or tryouts) will not take place.

Tuesday, March 9, will be a holiday for students and staff.

Wednesday, March 10, will be an observance day. There will be school on this day, but certain activities that cannot be made up (major tests, field trips, or mandatory events) will not take place.

A new school year calendar has been published, which includes this change. Please note that holidays and observances on the calendar may shift due to anticipated lunar sightings.

Safe Routes to School Parent and Caregiver Survey

As part of the Fairfax County School Board’s Annual School-Based Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Assessment, the FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are inviting parents and caregivers to share their experiences traveling to and from school.

The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss and ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.

High School Leadership Program

Virginia State Senator Stella Pekarsky is offering students the opportunity to participate in their High School Leadership Program this upcoming legislative session! The application is open to junior and senior students until Sunday, November 25 at 6:00 p.m. Spots are limited, so students should expect to be notified about their status following the closing of the application.
