A Note from the Principal

Dear Daniels Run Families,

Next Wednesday, October 21, is an early-release day. Students will follow their usual dismissal plans unless you have notified the school of a change. If your child’s dismissal plan needs to be different that day, please contact the office at least 48 hours in advance to help us ensure a smooth and safe dismissal.

Fall field trips are getting underway, giving students wonderful opportunities to learn and explore beyond the classroom. EAC students will visit Cox Farms, our sixth graders recently enjoyed a trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of Art, and some classes will attend Peter Pan at Fairfax High School. There are many exciting experiences ahead! Please check your child’s class newsletter for details about their field trip and other upcoming activities.

In Case You Missed It Last Week:

Purple Star Award Daniels Run has been named a 2026–2027 Purple Star Award recipient in recognition of our support for military-connected students and families. This designation is valid for three school years, and we are honored to receive this recognition.

Accreditation Update Daniels Run remains fully accredited and meets state expectations. Our school’s Framework score increased by 5.9 points to 89.4, just 0.1 point below the Distinguished level. SOL scores have also increased over the past two years. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for the hard work behind this progress.

Thank you for being part of our Daniels Run community. Have a wonderful weekend!

Survey Extended! Share Your Feedback on Traveling to and From School

The FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are asking families to share their experiences traveling to and from their child’s school. The feedback will help inform the Fairfax County School Board’s annual assessment of traffic and pedestrian safety near schools.

The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss-and-ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns. Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security.

The survey takes about five minutes to complete and will be open through Tuesday, October 20.

Please note that parents may now submit more than one response to provide feedback regarding different schools. Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.

FCPS Is Participating in Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5)

VQB5 builds on health and safety standards by measuring the quality of teacher-child interactions and the use of the curriculum.
