Safe Routes to School Parent and Caregiver Survey

As part of the Fairfax County School Board’s Annual School-Based Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Assessment, the FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are inviting parents and caregivers to share their experiences traveling to and from school.

The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss and ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.

Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security. The five-minute survey is open through Thursday, October 15.

Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.

Calendar Change: Eid al-Fitr

FCPS will mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr with an evening-only observance day on Monday, March 8. There will be school on this day, but major school-sponsored events and activities (such as auditions or tryouts) will not take place.

Tuesday, March 9, will be a holiday for students and staff.

Wednesday, March 10, will be an observance day. There will be school on this day, but certain activities that cannot be made up (major tests, field trips, or mandatory events) will not take place.

A new school year calendar has been published, which includes this change. Please note that holidays and observances on the calendar may shift due to anticipated lunar sightings.

Fun Run on October 9!

Our biggest fundraiser of the year is back, giving students a chance to run laps around the school field, have fun, and help raise money. Last year we raised $18,126, and our goal this year is $20,000.

Individual fundraising links were already emailed out, allowing family and friends to pledge per lap or give a flat donation. You should have also received a flier in last Thursday's folders with this Camelot PTA Fun Run pledge link. Please share it with friends and family, as every donation counts! All families are also warmly invited to come out to the field and cheer on our students.

Please consider signing up here to volunteer or donating snacks for the runners.

Fall Festival on October 17

Bring the whole family to Camelot’s annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. There will be scavenger hunts, face painting, bounce houses, magic shows, and more!  To make this beloved Camelot tradition a success, we need your help! Whether you can volunteer for an hour or stay longer, every helping hand makes a difference. Please sign up to volunteer to ensure this year's festival is the best one yet.

Join the PTA

Currently, we have just 81 families and teachers who have joined the PTA, and our goal is 150 families and teachers. So many teachers have already joined–thank you, teachers! Please note that PTA memberships must be renewed annually, so even if you were a member last year, you'll want to sign up again for this school year! For just $10, your membership is a simple yet powerful way to support our students and teachers. You can join or renew your PTA membership here.

All of the money that we raise directly supports the special programs that make our school great:

  • Ice Cream Night and other events that build up our community
  • Buying a book for every single child at the end of the year
  • Subsidizing field trips to keep them affordable for families
  • Reimbursing teachers up to $110 for the classroom supplies they purchase out of pocket

Camelot PTA Food Pantry

Our pantry relies on the generosity of our community to support families in need. You can contribute in a couple of ways:

  • Make a Monetary Donation: Visit our fundraising page to donate online. Please consider becoming a sustaining member by contributing $5, $10, or $20 a month during the school year.
  • Shop our Amazon Wish List: Click here to view our list.
    • Note: Please select the "gift recipient address" at checkout, and your items will be shipped directly to the Food Pantry.
