Woodson Weekly is published every Monday to provide the community with important information about school life at Woodson High School.
Vision Statement
Carter G. Woodson High School is a community that embraces diversity in a culture of improvement and success that promotes academic curiosity and individual mental and physical growth.
Message from Mr. Greata
Happy Monday! Here are a few quick reminders for the week ahead.
On Wednesday, October 7, our school will host the SAT School Day and PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) exams at no cost to families. The digital SAT School Day exam will be administered to 12th-grade students who pre-registered, while 10th and 11th graders will take the digital PSAT/NMSQT. Please note that there is no school for 9th-grade students on Wednesday. School will dismiss two hours early, and lunch will be provided for students in attendance.
Looking ahead, the electronic version of the Impact Aid Survey will open in ParentVUE on October 19. Our goal is 100% family participation, and completing the form online through ParentVUE is the quickest and easiest way to help us reach that goal. Please keep an eye out for an upcoming eNotify message with further details.
We invite you to join us for our first virtual PTSO meeting this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. You can find a link to the meeting on the PTSO website.
This Wednesday, our incredible Partnership Plus Team will receive a prestigious FCPS Impact Award for their work with our partnership classes and unified sports team. We would like to recognize the following individuals for their hard work and dedication to building an inclusive school culture: Aki Goto (Multiple Disabilities Teacher), Jayme Cole (Multiple Disabilities Teacher), Maria Lopez (Multiple Disabilities Teacher), William Wilkinson (Adapted PE Teacher), Angela Harrison (School Counselor), Marianne McLaughlin (Finance Technician), Megan Pitts (Career and Transition Services Teacher), Rebecca Stroud (Multiple Disabilities Teacher), Eileen Reap (Multiple Disabilities Teacher), Kevin Crenshaw (LD Teacher), Kwabena Kwabiah (PHTA), Hazel Morgan (Instructional Assistant), Colin Jones (PHTA), Jacob O’Brien (Multiple Disabilities Teacher), and Ashley Neal (Chemistry Teacher).
It is also a busy week for athletics, highlighted by Senior Nights for cross country and boys' volleyball. If you are attending Friday’s home football game, please arrive early to support students from across our pyramid as they perform the National Anthem.
Reminder that there will be No School on Monday, October 12th,
Have a wonderful week!
