Focused minds at work! Our students were engaged in learning with Ms. Sharif.
Dear Braddock Families,
It’s hard to believe we already completed Week 6! Our Eagles are settling into their routines, building relationships, and continuing to learn and grow each day.
We are excited to launch our very first Eagle Connection Newsletter for the year, a weekly way for families to stay connected to important updates, upcoming events, and celebrations happening at Braddock.
This week, we are introducing our Administrative Team, and each week we will highlight different staff members so you can get to know the wonderful people who support our Eagles every day.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We are so happy to have your children with us each day!
Warmly, Principals,

Tuesday, March 9, will be a holiday for students and staff.

Safe Routes to School Parent and Caregiver Survey
As part of the Fairfax County School Board’s Annual School-Based Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Assessment, the FCPS Office of Safety and Security and Safe Routes to School program are inviting parents and caregivers to share their experiences traveling to and from school.
The Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Survey asks about walking and biking routes, traffic near schools, kiss and ride experiences, accessibility, and other safety concerns.
Your feedback will help FCPS identify common issues. Your responses will be kept confidential and shared with school administrators and the Office of Safety and Security. The five-minute survey is open through Thursday, October 15.
Be sure to identify the school related to your feedback and include specific locations where you have observed a safety issue. If you have students at different schools in FCPS, please complete a different survey for each school.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact SafeRoutestoSchool@fcps.edu.

New ParentVUE Mobile App Is Here
The new ParentVUE mobile app is available in the Apple and Google App stores. This new app provides parents and caregivers with a more secure sign-in. Families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their ParentVUE account. The previous app will be deactivated at the end of 2026.
In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this security feature. Learn more about installing the new ParentVUE app. Parents needing assistance should submit a Parent Support Request.

FCPS Seeks Community Input on Middle School AAP Centers
FCPS is exploring a plan to offer Full-Time Advanced Academic Program (AAP) services at every middle school. Under the proposal, students who qualify could attend their neighborhood middle school and take advanced classes with other AAP students. The School Board has approved community engagement at Franklin, Hayfield, Holmes, Key, and Whitman middle schools, where programs could open for the 2027-28 school year. The proposal is still under consideration, and the School Board is expected to make a decision in December.
Each community meeting offers in-person and virtual participation. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for:
-
Franklin Middle: Monday, October 5, at 6 p.m.
-
Holmes Middle: Thursday, October 15, at 6 p.m.
-
Whitman Middle: Thursday, October 22, at 6 p.m.
Current middle school students will remain at their assigned AAP centers through middle school. Learn more and find meeting sign-up forms on the Middle School AAP Centers page
On behalf of our PTA President, Ms. Suzanne Fortnum
Dear Braddock Community,
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday evening for our Meet & Greet with Ms. Lee and the PTA Board! It was wonderful to see so many members of our Braddock community come together, connect, share ideas, and help us imagine what this year can look like.
One of the things I left the evening most excited about was hearing new ideas directly from our families. One suggestion was a pupusa event — a wonderful opportunity to come together around food, culture, and community. We’d love to continue finding ways to celebrate the many cultures, traditions, talents, and experiences that make Braddock ourcommunity.
As a PTA Board, we don’t know what we don’t know. Your voices and perspectives help us better understand what our families value and how we can build a stronger, more connected school community. Whether you share an idea, volunteer, attend an event, or simply show up for one another, your participation matters.
And if you haven’t already, join the PTA. Membership is just $10, and every new member strengthens our ability to create opportunities for our students, support our teachers and staff, and bring our families together.
Join the Braddock PTA today: Become a PTA Member — $10
Last night was a wonderful reminder of the energy, creativity, and care within this community. I’m so excited about what we can build together in the year ahead.
Thank you for being part of what makes Braddock such a special community. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Warmly, Suzanne Fortnum PTA President
