A Message from Ms. Kirkland
Dear Families,
It has been another busy week of learning at Mount Eagle! Our students are finishing their beginning-of-year assessments, which provide teachers with important information about students’ strengths and areas for growth. Teachers will use this information to plan instruction and ensure students receive the support and challenge they need throughout the year.
Thank you to our families for continuing to make daily, on-time attendance a priority. Regular attendance is closely connected to student achievement, and arriving on time ensures students are present for important instruction and ready to begin the day alongside their classmates. Every day—and every minute—of learning matters!
Finally, a reminder that Wednesday is an Early Release Wednesday. Students will dismiss at 12:30 PM. Families who have made arrangements for their children to stay at school for supervision have received a reminder via email. All other students will dismiss at 12:30 PM using their regular dismissal routes.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students have a strong start to the school year!
Warmly, Kate Kirkland, Principal

New ParentVUE Mobile App Is Here
The new ParentVUE mobile app is available in the Apple and Google App stores. This new app provides parents and caregivers with a more secure sign-in. Families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their ParentVUE account. The previous app will be deactivated at the end of 2026.
In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this security feature. Learn more about installing the new ParentVUE app. Parents needing assistance should submit a Parent Support Request.
🤒 Not Feeling Well? When Your Child Can Come to School
School is better when your child is here! But we do understand that some days, they may feel unwell. Learn more about which symptoms are ok at school (like sneezing or sniffles), and when your child should stay home (if they have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, for example).
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify our school so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with our public health nurse. Call us as soon as you know your child will be absent and, if possible, let us know how long you think they will be out.
If you or your family need any kind of support, please reach out to our front office. We are here for you! Visit FCPS’ Attendance webpage for tips and strategies.
Save the Date: Community Conversations with Superintendent Reid
Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.
A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. The closest event to Mount Eagle will be later this month.
Registration links will be shared soon. Childcare and interpretation services will be provided. Events are one-hour long and open to all. Find out about other opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.
Updates to Technology in School
The Virginia legislature has passed a law updating what personal electronics are permitted in school. Starting this year, students must turn off and place in backpacks all personal electronics, including cell phones, smart watches, laptops, and wireless headphones. Students may not wear these items during the school day in the building.
