The Sunshine Scoop
Dear Louise Archer Families,
Happy Friday! As we wrap up another fantastic week of learning and growth, we want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our students have been hard at work, and it is always a joy seeing their enthusiasm in the classrooms every day.
We have two important schedule updates to keep in mind for this coming week:
-
Wednesday, September 30th – 3-Hour Early Release: This Wednesday is a 3-hour early release day for staff professional development, with student dismissal at 1:00 PM. Buses will run their standard routes three hours earlier than usual. For safety reasons, we cannot accept last-minute dismissal changes on Wednesday. Please make sure your child's dismissal plan is finalized in advance. We kindly ask that you review and remind your child of their dismissal plans before Wednesday morning so they feel prepared for the adjusted schedule.
-
Monday, September 28th – New Staggered Dismissal Process: Starting this Monday, we will be implementing a new staggered dismissal process to help improve safety, traffic flow, and ensure a smooth exit for all students at the end of the school day. Details are included below.
Thank you for helping us make these schedule adjustments and new routines run smoothly. We truly appreciate everything you do to support our school community, and we hope you all have a wonderful, restful weekend!
Sincerely,
Liz Noto, Principal Tory Swanson, Assistant Principal
New Staggered Dismissal Starting Monday
Starting this Monday, we are updating our afternoon dismissal routine to a staggered schedule. This change will help streamline traffic, improve safety, and ensure a smooth exit for all students.
Here is the new dismissal timeline:
-
4:00 PM: Bicycles and Kiss & Ride
-
4:03 PM: Walkers
-
As They Arrive: Bus students will continue to be dismissed as their buses arrive.
Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in making our end-of-day routine safer and more efficient for our school community!

Bus Pass Requests
We are pleased to share that the new bus card system for the 2026–27 school year is running smoothly, and we will begin accepting afternoon bus pass requests on Monday, October 5th!
Thank you for your patience during the initial rollout as we ensured system stability before introducing temporary travel changes.
What Families Need to Know About the New Process
To submit an afternoon bus pass request, families will need to use our new request process:
-
Parent emails LAESBusPass@fcps.edu and copies the receiving parent at least one full school day in advance.
-
Receiving parent replies to approve the change at least one full school day in advance.
- Office staff provides the teacher a paper bus pass to give to the student.
- The student hands the bus pass to the bus driver.
- Messages sent to teachers, the main office, and/or the attendance line are no longer part of the bus pass process.

Kiss 'n Ride Safety
A friendly reminder to please stay in your vehicle if you are in the Kiss & Ride line. If you must get out of the car, we ask that your pull all the way up so we can keep students out of the line of traffic. The only designated Kiss & Ride is on the side of the school closest to Madison High School’s fields.

Important Update from the Town of Vienna
Town of Vienna Parks and Recreation needs our help keeping community spaces safe and clean! Please note that e-bikes and e-scooters are strictly prohibited on all athletic fields, including Waters Field. Additionally, Waters Field is NOT permitted as an after-school hangout spot for students.
Recent misuse has led to safety hazards, litter, and turf damage, prompting local officials and police to increase preventive measures and lock field gates. We ask parents to discuss these rules with their students to help preserve these spaces for scheduled athletic use. Thank you for your support in keeping our community grounds safe!
