3rd Graders in Specials (Library and Art)

Our 3rd graders were having a great time in specials this week! Students have been busy checking out plenty of books from the library and discovering new stories to enjoy. In Art, they practiced their drawing skills by recreating pictures and had fun getting creative and experimenting with clay. We love seeing our Bulldogs learning, creating, and exploring!

Leadership Team Message

Dear Bucknell Families,

We enjoyed another great week at Bucknell! Our students are settling into their routines and structures and engaging in high levels of learning. It has been wonderful to see their growth, focus, and excitement each day. Much of our beginning-of-the-year testing is winding down, and our teachers have started using the results to provide targeted small-group instruction. These small groups allow teachers to focus on specific student needs and provide instruction and support that helps every student continue to grow.

Spirit Wear Reminder

Next week is the last opportunity to purchase Bucknell spirit wear. We will be placing our final order soon and expect items to be available by mid-October. As a reminder, you can purchase by sending cash/check to Bucknell ES or paying through MySchoolBucks.

The Importance of Attendance

Every school day provides opportunities for students to learn, connect with their classmates, and build important skills. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they are better able to stay connected to instruction and maintain their routines. Thank you for partnering with us to make sure your child is at school and ready to learn each day.

Arrival and Dismissal Safety

Please follow staff directions, use designated walkways and crosswalks, and remain patient as cars and buses move through the area. If you are using the car loop, please stay in your vehicle and pull forward as directed. Keeping traffic moving safely requires everyone’s attention and cooperation.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We hope you have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week!

With gratitude,

Rashida Green, Principal

Rashida Green, Principal

Review and Sign the SR&R by September 30

The FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. This year’s SR&R includes new Universal Grade Matrices, which are at-a-glance charts that make it easier for families to see behavior expectations and school responses for grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12.

We ask that families please review the SR&R and discuss these expectations with your child. Be sure to sign the SR&R acknowledgement form by Wednesday, September 30, either by logging into SIS ParentVUE or signing and returning the Signature Sheet to your child’s school.

Learn more by watching a short video about the SR&R (available in English and Spanish) or visiting the SR&R webpage.

Attendance Awareness Month

Want your child to succeed in school, and in life? 📚 It starts with showing up. Daily routines at home help students build the academic skills and real-world habits they need to thrive. Here's how you can help:- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine- Pack bags and pick outfits the night before- Talk through any school worries with a teacher, school counselor, or other parents- Make a backup plan for getting to school if something comes up- Schedule trips and appointments outside school hours when possible

Showing up is the first step to thriving academically, and parents play a crucial role in making every day count.

Need help in supporting your child's attendance? We have resources! Please contact your school counselor to talk it through. See more simple tips for strong school attendance at fcps.edu/attendance.
