This week was a week of firsts in many ways across the Academy! Our first-year AFJROTC cadets proudly participated in their first uniform day, our Culinary Arts students served their first Grab 'n Go lunch service, our Auto Collision students got hands-on with their first vehicle teardown, our Pharmacy Technician 1 students filled their first mock prescriptions, and our Carpentry students attended their first field trip - just to name a few. These exciting milestones are just the beginning as students experience what it means to learn through real-world, hands-on opportunities.
From classrooms and labs to kitchens and shops, our students are building skills, gaining confidence, and preparing for future careers. Just over a month in, it’s been a busy start to the school year, and we’re excited to see all that our students will accomplish in the weeks ahead!
Our first-year AFJROTC cadets looked sharp wearing their uniforms for the first time this week.
Culinary Arts students prepared New York strip steaks for their first Friday Grab 'n Go lunch service; American Steak and Caesar Salad was on the menu.

Our Carpentry students went on a field trip to the National Mall this week for HUD's Innovative Housing Showcase and Trades Day where they were able to learn about innovative designs and technologies being used in housing construction.
Students were in the lab filling prescriptions in Pharmacy Technician 1 this week. Peers from the Exploring Health Sciences class acted as their patients as they went through the process of patient/prescription intake, labeling, and filling.
STEM Engineering students worked through rotations to learn about and try out different hand tools they will be using in the lab this year.
In the clinic this week, Dental Careers students practiced assembling and placing matrix bands, which act as a temporary wall when filling cavities.
