Connecting Community: A Look Back at Back to School Night
 Thank you to all the families and caregivers who joined us to experience a day in the life of a Westfield Bulldog during our 2026-2027 Back to School Night! The evening was filled with engaging classroom activities and wonderful guidance from student leaders, highlighting our shared commitment to Community, Integrity, and Excellence. Student Spotlight: Activities and Clubs during FLEX
 There are so many ways to get involved at Westfield and this week we are featuring a few of our 130 clubs that we offer. Students are continued to encourage to check out many ways to get involved through Schoology and our school website.
While our Flex period offers time for students to engage in academic support, post-secondary planning, common APP support, it is also a time where several clubs get together. Pictured above is Girls Basketball Interest Meeting, members of our Black Student Union, and a student part of Get-2-Green supporting recycling efforts. We look forward to continuing to highlight the many ways to stay engaged at Westfield.
Classroom Spotlight: Oceanography 'Sewer Science' Lab
 Oceanography students in Ms. Karen Bendorf’s classes recently partnered with Fairfax County Water Outreach for a hands-on "Sewer Science" lab. Students treated simulated wastewater to meet EPA standards, exploring how purification protects our local Occoquan River watershed. Read all about the "Sewer Science" Lab.
Classroom Spotlight: Economics and Personal Finance (EPF) Honors
Students in Economics and Personal Finance (EPF) Honors classes, taught by Heidi Hammond and Sally Reyes, recently welcomed local business owner and insurance broker Ms. Hammond—mother to teacher Heidi Hammond—as a guest speaker focused on career exploration. Students actively engaged in a student-led Q&A exploring networking, business operations, and various postsecondary pathways.

Volunteer to Judge the Westfield Science Fair!
Are you interested in encouraging students’ understanding of science—whether you work as a scientist or engineer, or simply have a hobby in a science-related field? You do not need a professional STEM career or an advanced degree to inspire Bulldogs at the Westfield Science Fair on Thursday, January 21, 2027! Volunteer judges will listen to student presentations, evaluate their scientific thought processes, and offer encouraging feedback. Please complete the Science Fair Judge Volunteer Form to lend a few hours of your time and support student success!

Westfield's College Fair
Westfield is hosting its first-ever school-day College Fair on Thursday, October 8, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Over 65 college representatives will be on campus to meet with our juniors and seniors! Students must register using their @fcpsschools Google account.

Homecoming Spirit Week: September 28 – October 2

Monday, September 28 – Pajama Day: Kick off the week in cozy style! Wear your favorite school-appropriate PJs to class.

Tuesday, September 29 – Part of the Pack: Rep a club, athletic team, or Westfield gear to celebrate where you feel you belong.

Wednesday, September 30 – On Wednesday We Wear Pink: Fill the hallways with pink to show your school spirit.

Thursday, October 1 – 2000s Day: Travel back in time by dressing in your best Y2K look.

Friday, October 2 – Black Out: Wear black from head to toe to show ultimate WHS spirit for our Friday pep rally and Homecoming game!
 Westfield Homecoming 2026 will take place on Saturday, October 3, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available now on MySchoolBucks through Friday, October 2. Cash ticket sales will also run during all lunch shifts from Monday, September 28, through Friday, October 2.
