Dear FEES Families,
WOW! Last week, we kicked off our first PTA meeting of the school year, and it was wonderful to see so many of our families joining us! Our partnership with families is an essential part of what makes Forest Edge strong, and this collaboration is truly crucial to the success of our students and our school.
During the meeting, we shared our theme and priorities for the 2026–2027 school year. As we continue SOARing Strong, our work at Forest Edge is grounded in four shared priorities that will guide our decisions, our instruction, and the ways we support our students, staff, and families:
🦅 Strengthening Tier 1 Behavior Practices – Creating consistent, positive, and proactive behavior systems that help every student feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
📚 High-Quality Instruction for ALL – Providing rigorous, engaging, and differentiated instruction that ensures every student is challenged, supported, and growing.
💚 High-Performing, Happy Teams – Building a culture where staff feel valued, connected, supported, and empowered to do their best work.
🤝 Increased & Differentiated Family Engagement – Strengthening partnerships with families through meaningful, accessible, and inclusive opportunities to connect with our school.
These priorities are more than goals—they are the commitments that keep us focused on what matters most: excellence, purpose, and joy for every Eagle, every day!
As a reminder, our first Principal Parent Coffee is September 29 from 8:00AM - 8:30AM in the Library. This coffee is for families of students in grades PreK, K, and 1.
Finally, on Wednesday, September 30, all students will be released at 12:35 unless you have indicated they will be staying after due to childcare needs.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
Warmly, Dr. Brittany Rogers, Principal Mrs. Ashley Fisher, Assistant Principal
Excellence ⭐ Purpose 🧭 Joy 💚
Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30, 2026, is our first 3-Hour Early Release Day. Dismissal will begin at 12:35 PM.

Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and safe early release! 💚🦅

The new ParentVUE mobile app is available in the Apple and Google App stores. This new app provides parents and caregivers with a more secure sign-in. Families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their ParentVUE account. The previous app will be deactivated at the end of 2026.
In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this security feature. Learn more about installing the new ParentVUE app. Parents needing assistance should submit a Parent Support Request.
Please help all our bus riders remember to tap on and tap off the school bus each day. We currently have about 70% of students on buses following this process correctly, which is a great start! Learn more about student IDs and bus navigation.
Families wishing to see where their child’s bus is should continue to use the Here Comes the Bus app.

 Link for Picture Day Purchase
Order Code 0037070IN
What to expect on picture day
- When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can either be printed or texted to the student and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
- If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
- A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
- When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.
The free Lightspeed Parent Portal makes it easy for you to see and manage how your child uses their FCPS-issued device outside of school hours. New Lightspeed Parent Portal features for this school year include:
-
Schedules: Pause or restrict internet access during specific times, such as during homework time, family dinners, weekends, or bedtime.
-
Web Rules: Block specific websites you don’t want your child accessing at home.
Be sure to check your email (subject line: “Filter Portal Weekly Report”) each Sunday for the Lightspeed Student Online Activity Report, a weekly summary of the websites your child has visited. Learn more about Lightspeed Parent Reports.
Please remind your student that personal electronic communication or computing devices should be off and personally stored (i.e. backpacks) for the duration of the school day — bell to bell. This includes:
- Personal laptops and tablets.
- Smartphones and smartwatches.
- Other personal electronic communication or computing devices.
If you need to reach your student during the school day, please call our main office at [main office number]. Learn more about the FCPS Cellphone Policy and Device Policy.

The Fall Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener will be administered to students in grades 3 through 12 in October. Students use the SEL Screener twice a year to share their perspectives on how well their school and community help them develop skills they need to succeed. The screener works by asking questions or presenting statements that students can think about and respond to. This gives students a way to share how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
After each screening, results are available in the Documents tab of SIS ParentVUE and mailed to families without a ParentVUE account. For more information, including SEL Screener questions and opt-out information, please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage.
