Greetings Keene Mill Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. If you haven’t yet had an opportunity, please log into SIS ParentVue to complete the required and optional enrollment forms for this school year. As a reminder, we have designated 3 hour early release Wednesdays throughout the school year. Our first one is this coming Wednesday. Please also ensure that you have completed the Early Release Wednesday Form so we know how your student is getting home this coming Wednesday, September 30th at 1pm.
We look forward to seeing you tonight, Friday, September 25th, for the PTA’s first event: International Night! Thank you to the PTA for planning these engaging and inclusive events for our community.

Online Verification Forms
With the school year underway, we are working toward 100% completion of student online verification forms for every family to ensure we have critical information to support your child(ren)’s enrollment at Keene Mill. Families may complete their forms electronically through ParentVUE, or by downloading the paper forms from the FCPS website and returning them to the school office. All online verification (OVU) forms must be completed by Wednesday, September 30th.

Advanced Academic Programs Parent Information Session
Please join Keene Mill’s Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, Mrs. Julia Brandt, to learn more about the various levels of service, understand the screening process, and gain insight into Fairfax County Public Schools’ philosophy regarding Advanced Academic Programs. The presentation will also explain how elementary students’ advanced learning needs are met through a continuum of services.

Twice Exceptional Students
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.
New information, including printable flyers, has been added under the heading Supporting 2e Learners in FCPS.

Keene Mill PTA Update
See you at KMES International Night Friday, September 25!
Join us tonight at our annual International Night where we celebrate our many heritages and sample food from a variety of countries. All attendees are invited to wear a traditional outfit representing their country or heritage. We will also have folk dancing led by Keene Mill’s music teachers. Check out the artwork submitted by students along the hallways as well!
Panera Bread Spirit Night
Tuesday, September 29 (4:00-8:00 pm in person OR online all day)
We’re raising some dough for Keene Mill! Support Bring your Panera flyer from 4:00-8:00 PM to the location on 6230 Rolling Road or use code FUND4U for online checkout. All online orders all day will also count towards total sales. You can support in-person, pick-up or delivery and 25% of sales will benefit the KMES PTA activities
