If your child will be staying at school until 4pm and/or if their mode of dismissal is different from their usual route home, please fill out this survey to provide details about your student’s plans for dismissal. If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child is leaving at 1pm via their usual route home. (Preschool will dismiss at the usual time on this day.)

Friday is Custodian Appreciation Day!

custodian

Crossfield’s amazing custodial team goes above and beyond to make sure our school is clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for students and staff each day. Thank you Ms. Connie, Mr. Peter, Ms. Ellie, Ms. Ines, and Mr. Rony for all you do to care for our school community! We are so grateful for you.

FCPS This Week now available in other languages

The FCPS This Week newsletter is now available in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, or Vietnamese.

If you would prefer one of those languages contact Kristy Kim, Crossfield’s school registrar, to update your “corresponding language” in SIS.

Green Team

Green team

The Green Team held its first meeting of the school year and got started on several projects. Members designed T-shirts, weeded garden beds, distributed recycling posters, and practiced procedures for collecting recyclable items.  The team will continue working on these projects and taking on new activities at future meetings throughout the school year.  Thank you to everyone who participated.

Blue Star Welcome Week

Blue Star Welcome Week

Help us welcome our military families during Blue Star Welcome Week, September 28th – October 4th, and throughout the year! Every year, approximately 600,000 military-connected families relocate, and schools are a primary way they get integrated into their new location. Blue Star Welcome Week is an opportunity for our community to welcome our military-connected families and show them our appreciation for their service and sacrifices.

Rockets, let’s show our support for military families with a fun spirit week!

Monday – Shine and Sparkle Day

Tuesday – Team Shirt Day

Wednesday – Wear R.E.D. Day

Thursday – Superhero Day

Friday – Pajama Day

We’d like to know who our military-connected families are so we can share opportunities with you throughout the year. Please complete this optional Google form if you are a new Crossfield military-connected family. Reach out to our family liaison, Emily Simon, with questions via email at emsimon@fcps.edu.

October 5 Community Meeting About Proposed AAP Center at Franklin Middle School

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is proposing to open a new Full-time Advanced Academic Program Center at Franklin Middle School. If approved by the School Board, students who live within the Franklin MS boundary will attend Franklin Middle School for Full-Time AAP, starting with grade 7 in SY 2027-28 and grades 7-8 in SY 2028-29.

There will be a community meeting for interested families to learn more about the proposal to expand Full-Time AAP to all FCPS middle schools and provide feedback on October 5 at 6 p.m. at Franklin Middle School. More information can be found on the FCPS public webpage.

Please let us know if you plan to attend and if you require interpretation services by filling out the Franklin MS RSVP form.

Raptor Visitor Management System

All FCPS schools are now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This system is part of FCPS’ ongoing commitment to layered school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our schools. The VMS ensures that no school visitor is on the offender registry.

Please have your ID ready when you check in at the front office as a volunteer or to have lunch with your child. Visitors who download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use at the school to accelerate the check-in process.

Reporting Discrimination or Harassment

FCPS is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all races, national origins, and ethnicities. Individuals experiencing harassment or discrimination should report the incident  as soon as possible.
