Here's the answer to this week's riddle: Because they let everything go! š
Dear Wonderful Navy Families,
We had another fantastic week of learning! Our teaching teams are hard at work ensuring strong Tier 1 instruction and strategically identifying students who need additional classroom support using insights from their most recent assessments.
Thanks to your support, Navy received an additional $4,600.00 from the Asha-Jyothi 5K to help purchase materials for our STEAM lab. In even bigger news, our recent grant proposal was awarded in the amount of $50,000, which will allow us to fully stock the remaining supplies needed for the lab! We are beyond grateful to Asha-Jyothi for their continued support of our school and community.Ā
We hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Warmly,
Jason, Barbara, and Kim

October 21, 3-Hour Early Release
To help our 3-hour early release dismissal run as smoothly and safely as possible, we kindly ask families to plan ahead for any changes to their childās usual dismissal routine. Whether your child will be riding home with another family, joining a different Kiss and Ride pickup, or has another change in plans, please notify the main office by the Monday before the early release day. Early release days are especially busy, and receiving changes in advance gives our staff time to make sure every student gets home safely and as planned. Thank you for helping us make dismissal safe, organized, and smooth for everyone!
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is proposing to open a new Full-time Advanced Academic Program Center at Franklin Middle School. There will be a community meeting for interested families to learn more about the proposal to expand Full-Time AAP to all FCPS middle schools and provide feedback on October 5Ā at 6 p.m. at Franklin Middle School. More information can be found on the FCPS public webpage.Ā
Please let us know if you plan to attend and if you require interpretation services by filling out the Franklin MS RSVP form
Every school in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has a crisis management and emergency preparedness plan in place. Keeping students and staff safe is a priority. We practice a number of safety drills throughout the school year, including lockdown drills which helps us know what to do if there is a potentially violent intruder inside the school or on school property.
Today, our school conducted a lockdown drill and teachers talked to students to prepare them for the drill. As a part of our safety training we also show students a video regarding lockdown drills so students would know what a lockdown looks like in the school.
I am very proud of our students today. They listened to directions and the drill was conducted in a calm and orderly fashion. Our students did a great job, and I encourage you to discuss the drill with them. Additional guidance on discussions with your child about lockdown drills can be found in the Parent/Guardian tip letter, as well as on the frequently asked questions (FAQs) page.
Our emergency preparedness plans have been developed in coordination with the FCPS Office of Safety and Security, local law enforcement, emergency management officials, and FCPS mental health professionals. The plans are regularly reviewed and updated and include procedures on how to respond to critical incidents such as fires, tornadoes, and other events. Students and staff regularly practice safety drills.
WeĀ continue to keep you informed of safety and security measures in place at our school. If you have questions, please call or contact the school office.Ā Thank you for your continued support.
Hola! This week in FLES (foreign language in elementary schools), our theme was celebraciones (Celebrations).Ā
We learned about many celebrations, but focused on āLa tomatinaā in Spain, who also happen to be the world cup winners! Ask your child what this festival is, rules implemented, and ingredients used for āpan con tomateā, a very famous tapas (small dish) , had before this festival began.Ā
Some students also enjoyed having these tapas in class! Delicioso!
