Vision Statement
Carter G. Woodson High School is a community that embraces diversity in a culture of improvement and success that promotes academic curiosity and individual mental and physical growth.
A look at Hey Day from the roof of Woodson High School
Message from Mr. Greata
How much duct tape does it take to stick an adult to a brick wall? How many parent volunteers does it take to ensure that you have hundreds of chicken fingers hot and fresh at 10:30 in the morning? These and other important questions were answered last week at our Hey Day, where our clubs were able to connect with the rest of the student body and help raise funds for the school year. It is always such a great time, and a great day to be a Cavalier!
We also got to celebrate some of our seniors last week at Senior Night for both our golf team and field hockey team. It is always great to celebrate their contributions to our school, and I wish them well as they take their next steps. The field hockey game last Friday was a heartbreaker, but we were so proud of our athletes who fought so hard to the very end and only lost in penalty shots—but man, was it intense!
This week, we are pulling grade data since we are midway through the first quarter so that our collaborative learning teams can work with students who might need extra support in their classes. This is also a great time for parents to check ParentVUE grades and ask your students if there are retakes they need to make up or any work they need to turn in.
Next week, on Wednesday, October 7th, is our PSAT/SAT Day. There will be no school for freshmen, and only seniors who have signed up for the SAT will be in attendance. 10th and 11th graders will take the PSAT at school and be dismissed early at 11:55 a.m.
Have a great week, and Go Cavs
