Review Attendance Procedures

Students who attend Academy classes need to report attendance through their appropriate Academy Attendance Office, in addition to Chantilly HS Attendance Office. ParentVUE can only be used to report absences at a student’s base-school and cannot be used to report full-day absences at an Academy School. Please contact your student’s Academy Attendance Office separately:

A Note from Dr. Goodloe:

Security Screening - Late arrivals

We encourage all students to arrive to school between 7:45 AM and 8:05 AM to ensure they will arrive to class on time, by 8:10 AM.  Doors 2 and 10 are open for Security Screening 7:45 AM - 8:10 AM. Lines move efficiently and students report to class by 8:10 AM.

  • After 8:10 all students must report to screening at Door1
  • Students check in at the attendance office and receive a tardy pass to class
  • Expect delays on inclement weather days! Students should plan to arrive early to school to ensure on time class attendance!

Reporting Student Attendance

How to Report Student Attendance:

Each attendance request requires the following information: Your child’s first and last name, student ID (also required), date and reason for request, time (for tardy arrivals and early dismissals), your name and contact information.

  • ALL-DAY ABSENCE: Submit a ParentVUE absence request.
  • LATE ARRIVAL: Email or call before 9:30 a.m. to avoid schoolwide automated attendance notifications.
  • EARLY DISMISSAL: Email or call before the 10:00 a.m. request closing time. Student's will be issued an early dismissal pass. Calls received after 10 a.m. may impact dismissal time.
  • Students with early dismissals are required to pick up their pink check-out pass from the Attendance Office by 11:20 a.m. Failure to do so may prevent them from leaving class at their scheduled dismissal time.
  • Chantilly Academy: Students who are enrolled in both Chantilly Academy and Chantilly High School must have their attendance reported separately to each school's Attendance Office.

Please do not contact (703) 222-6500 or the Main Office to report your student’s attendance.

Attendance Discrepancies:

For attendance discrepancies related to a specific class period, contact the teacher directly by email or in-person. The Attendance Office will not update attendance records entered by the class period teacher, or exchange messages back and forth on behalf of parents and teachers.

Early Dismissal Due to Illness

Students who become ill during school hours and require an early dismissal must report to the clinic, not the Attendance Office. Parents/legal guardians should not submit early dismissal requests to the Attendance Office when their student becomes ill. Early dismissal requests for students who are not feeling well during school hours will not be processed by the Attendance Office; the student will be directed to the clinic.

Visit the Chantilly HS website for additional attendance information and procedures.
