Navy Banner says Navy with Agent themed background and our Mascot, Flipper the Dolphin dressed as an agent

Here's the answer to this week's riddle: Sep-timber! 🌳

Dear Navy Families,

What an absolute whirlwind of a week—and we loved every single second of it!

It was fantastic seeing so many of you fill our halls for Back to School Night and bring such incredible energy to the Fall Festival. A massive shout-out to our outstanding PTO for bringing our community together for such a memorable event!

The excitement didn't stop there. We brought the Friday night lights straight to Navy by welcoming the Oakton football team, cheerleaders, and dance team for Navy Feeder Day! Seeing our kiddos' faces light up as the high schoolers cheered them into school this morning was pure magic. You can keep the celebration going tonight as Oakton takes the field!

To top off this stellar week, we are kicking off the weekend with the Fairfax Corner 5K! We officially hit 101 registrants this year—an amazing milestone! Every single dollar raised comes directly back to Navy to propel our STEAM initiative forward. Thank you to everyone who signed up to run, walk, and cheer us on!

I hope your weekend is filled with rest, laughter, and quality time with your amazing kids. Enjoy the long weekend, take good care, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Tuesday!

Warmly,

Jason

Hispanic Heritage Month Begins!

Image of students holding up hispanic cultural clothing

Hola, Navy parents!

We shared the meaning and importance of Hispanic Heritage Month with our students through short readings in Spanish. To support comprehension and build students’ confidence as readers, we used cognates to help them connect Spanish and English and better understand the content.Ā

Our first theme to open up Hispanic Heritage Month this year is clothes. Ask your child how you say clothes in Spanish and what countries we have focused on this week, in addition to reviewing colors, numbers, and more.Ā

Students also received a sticker where they were challenged to guess/figure out which country it represented and had a blast!Ā

We would also like to invite Navy to upcoming celebrations: the Manassas Latino Festival on September 26, and Fiesta DC on September 26 and 27.

There will be music, food, performances, and more. Hope to see you there!

Navy Elementary School Picture Day is Coming! šŸ“ø

3 Hour Early Release Plan

We have responses from 62% of our families.

To help us prepare for our 3 hour early release days,Ā all families need to complete theĀ Google FormĀ and select one plan for their child.Ā The plan you choose will apply to all four early release days.Ā You will need your child’sĀ 7-digit student ID numberĀ and will indicate whether your child will:

  • Dismiss at 12:30 p.m., or
  • Remain at school until 3:30 p.m.Ā due to a child care hardship.

After-school care:Ā If your child normally attends after-school care, they will transition to their program atĀ 12:30 p.m.Ā This includesĀ SACC and students who ride daycare buses.

We encourage families toĀ save these dates and write down the option you selectĀ so you can easily remember your child’s early release plan throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

Thank you for planning ahead and helping us ensure we have an accurate plan for every student!

šŸˆ Navy Feeder Night at Oakton High School

Oakton Home Game - Image of students getting off the bus giving high fives to our Oakton Cheerleaders

We had a wonderful start to the day at Navy! Oakton High School football players and cheerleaders visited Navy this morning, greeting our students as they arrived with smiles and high fives. It was such a fun way to build school spirit and celebrate the connection between Navy and our larger community!

The excitement continues tonight, September 18, as Oakton High School brings back its tradition of Feeder Nights at home football games. Tonight is Navy Elementary Feeder Night, and Navy students and families are invited to join the Oakton community as the Cougars take on Colonial Forge. Tonight’s game will also include Military Appreciation.

We hope to see members of our Navy community there cheering on the Cougars! šŸˆšŸ’™
