Sixth graders working together and building community with one another.
Fairfax Villa Community,
It has been another great week here at The Villa! It was so great to see so many of you at our Back to School Night.
We are excited to share that our school’s fundraiser is up and running. Please take a moment to register your child for our Dragons Fun Run and share your child’s page with family and friends! By sharing your child’s page, we can work together to collect donations to support our school.
So far, our community has raised $521 towards our $25,000 goal! See more information below about registration, donation collection, and the date of our big event.
Looking ahead, school will be closed on Monday 9/21 due to Rosh Hashanah. We look forward to welcoming your students back into the building on Tuesday.
We look forward to connecting with you and your children in the upcoming week. As always, please reach out with any questions!
See you all soon,
Ms. Textoris and Mrs. Burke

September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month!
As part of our celebration at Fairfax Villa, we are inviting families to send in pictures that represent their Hispanic heritage to be part of a bulletin board display. These pictures can be of your family, of special occasions, foods, dress, or anything else that represents your heritage.
Pictures can be emailed to Mx. Gaskins mngaskins@fcps.edu.
Students will be dismissed 3 hours early four times throughout the school year and are encouraged to return home via their normal route. We understand there may be a childcare hardship for many of our families. If your child remains at school, please know these are non-academic times and no additional teaching will occur. All students are encouraged to return home at 1pm.
To help plan for our school’s childcare needs during the early release Wednesdays, please complete this form for each of your children who are enrolled at Fairfax Villa Elementary.
If you have multiple children, please include all children on the one form. The form covers all scheduled Early Release Wednesdays.
Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.
A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Events are planned for the following dates at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted):
- Monday, September 28, at Riverside Elementary School
- Monday, October 19, at Spring Hill Elementary School
- Monday, October 26, at Beech Tree Elementary School
- Thursday, October 29, at North Springfield Elementary School
- Friday, November 13, at Colin Powell Elementary School
Registration links will be shared soon. Childcare and interpretation services will be provided. Events are one-hour long and open to all. Find out about other opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are both gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.
New information, including printable flyers, has been added under the heading Supporting 2e Learners in FCPS.
For more information, please contact our Special Education Department Chair, Janet O’Lare, at 703-267-2800.
School is better when your child is here! But we do understand that some days, they may feel unwell. Learn more about which symptoms are ok at school (like sneezing or sniffles), and when your child should stay home (if they have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, for example).
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify the school so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with your school public health nurse. Call the school as soon as you know your child will be absent and, if possible, let them know how long you think they will be out.
If you or your family need any kind of support, please reach out to our front office. We are here for you! Visit FCPS’ Attendance webpage for tips and strategies.
