🏰✨ Disney Magic at Haycock! ✨🏰
Friday, September 18th was Disney Day at Haycock, a fun spirit day organized by our Student Council Association (SCA)! Our students and staff brought the Disney magic with Minnie ears, Goofy hats, Toy Story characters, and so much more! 🐭🤠❤️
We love seeing our Haycock Cougars show their school spirit and have a little fun together! 🐾✨
Dear Haycock Families,
I hope everyone had a nice, long weekend. I enjoyed seeing many of you again at Rodef Shalom as we observed Yom Kippur. It was wonderful to see so many Haycock families there and to witness the connections within our community.
We have our first Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Night on Thursday, September 24. Please join the administrative team and Siobhan O’Hair, our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher, as we share information about the AAP program at Haycock.
Next week is our first early release day, on Wednesday, September 30. Dismissal will begin at 1:05 p.m. Please make sure you complete this form so we know your plans for after school that day.
Our classrooms are moving along nicely, as most teachers are finishing their beginning-of-year assessments. I have visited and provided feedback to almost every teacher, and I am seeing amazing things happening throughout the building. I am excited about what the rest of the year has in store!
With appreciation for your partnership,
Jeremy Ferrara, Principal jcferrara1@fcps.edu
Heather Boyd, AP HABoyd@fcps.edu
Krystal Styles, AP krstyles@fcps.edu

Introducing Our 2026–27 ML Family Literacy Sites
The Family Literacy Program supports multilingual learner families by building English language skills, strengthening family literacy, and connecting families with their children’s schools and communities. The program is free for eligible FCPS families.
This year’s sites include Glen Forest ES, Graham Road Community Building, Mission Center, West Potomac HS, Herndon HS, Falls Church HS, John R. Lewis HS, and Centre Ridge, which offers a virtual option.
Classes are offered during the fall and spring, both in person and virtually. Families attend classes during the day or evening, depending on the site, and must live in Fairfax County and have a child who attends—or will attend—FCPS.
To learn more or register, contact the Family Literacy Program at 571-423-4647 or visit the Family Literacy Program website.
Twice Exceptional Students
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.
New information, including printable flyers, has been added under the heading Supporting 2e Learners in FCPS.
For more information, please contact our school’s AART Siobhan O’Hair at sfohair@fcps.edu.

Community Connection - Our Cafeteria Staff
Every morning, our kitchen team arrives early to prep fresh ingredients, cook nutritious meals, and accommodate food allergies to safely fuel hundreds of students with a smile.
Alongside them, our amazing cafeteria monitors keep lunch hour running smoothly by opening tricky containers, cleaning up spills, and ensuring every child feels safe and included.
Together, these everyday heroes work tirelessly to make our lunchroom a warm, happy place for the entire school!
Have a question about your child’s cafeteria meals or meal account? Families can reach out to our Food Service Kitchen Manager, Lia Spriggs, at lespriggs@fcps.edu for assistance.

Take a moment to acknowledge and affirm a Haycock staff member when they go above and beyond in demonstrating care and dedication that ensures every one of our students is seen, heard, and valued. FCPS Cares.
 🌸🍂 Goodbye, Summer… Hello, Fall!
As we welcome the first day of fall, we’re taking one last look at some of the beautiful blooms that filled our garden spaces around Haycock just a few weeks ago. 🌺🌼❤️
The flowers may be saying goodbye for the season, but we’re ready to trade summer blooms for colorful leaves, crisp mornings, and all the beauty that fall brings! 🍁
Happy First Day of Fall, Haycock! 🐾🍂
