At the September 10th School Board meeting, the School Board adopted the motion that I drafted with Sully District Representative Seema Dixit, which directs the Division Superintendent to recommend programmatic options for traditional high schools with available capacity, prioritizing schools with fewer than 1,800 students. I am extremely grateful for community and school staff input regarding the motion. I am proud to have partnered with Ms. Dixit, Mr. Dunne, Ms. Anderson, Mr. Frisch and Mr. McDaniel on this initiative that will directly benefit the Lewis community, as well as others throughout the county. Strong academic, elective, career and technical education, sequential dual-enrollment, and extracurricular programs can help schools attract and retain students while providing families with more engaging and meaningful opportunities. By building on each school’s unique strengths and community needs, FCPS can support thriving school communities and make better use of available capacity.
