💜 TLES Earns Purple Star Designation!
We are proud to share that Timber Lane Elementary has earned the Purple Star Designation, recognizing our commitment to supporting military-connected students and families!
Our efforts include trained Student Ambassadors who welcome and support new students, classroom buddies, dedicated transition support, connections to military and community resources, and intentional support for students entering TLES with IEPs or 504 Plans. Our staff have also completed professional learning focused on understanding and supporting the unique experiences of military-connected students.
A special TLES shout-out to Mrs. Zaleski, a member of a current military family, who led the development of our Purple Star application. She put tremendous time, care, and thoughtfulness into highlighting our supports and identifying ways we can continue strengthening our commitment to military-connected families. Thank you, Mrs. Zaleski! 💜⭐
September 25 Spirit Day - Twin Day
Get ready to double the fun! On Friday, September 25, we are hosting Twin Day for our first Spirit Day.
Encourage your child to pair up with a friend, sibling, or classmate to dress alike for the day! Whether they choose matching shirts, identical outfits, or creative costumes, we can’t wait to see all of our dynamic duos around school. Students should still follow our standard school dress code guidelines.
Twice Exceptional Students
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.
New information, including printable flyers, has been added under the heading Supporting 2e Learners in FCPS.
For more information, please contact Katie Hardy.
