A Message from the Principal

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Dear Belle View Families,

Thank you to everyone who attended Back to School Night! It is always a wonderful evening to bring our community together, share FCPS initiatives and Belle View updates, outline grade-level curricula, and preview the incredible annual events hosted by our PTA.

Keep an eye out for information on the BVES Fun Run next week! We are kicking off this major fundraiser intending to raise $30,000+ to support field trips, assemblies, and community events.

Today, we are thrilled to welcome author Beth Lincoln for our 3rd–6th grade students, courtesy of Old Town Books in Alexandria. She will be sharing her creative process and insights into her popular book series, The Swifts.

This week also marks the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Throughout the month, our students will learn about and celebrate the rich contributions of Hispanic Americans in art, science, music, and culture.

Finally, a reminder that there is no school this Monday. To those in our community celebrating Yom Kippur, we wish you G’mar chatima tova.

I look forward to seeing you around the View! 🐾

Not Feeling Well? When Can Your Child Come to School? 🤧

School is better when your child is here! But we do understand that some days, they may feel unwell. Learn more about which symptoms are ok at school (like sneezing or sniffles), and when your child should stay home (if they have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, for example).

If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify the school so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with your school public health nurse. Call the school as soon as you know your child will be absent and, if possible, let them know how long you think they will be out.

If you or your family need any kind of support, please reach out to our front office. We are here for you! Visit FCPS’ Attendance webpage for tips and strategies.

The 2023-30 Strategic Plan — Goal 1: Strong Start, Pre-K-12

The FCPS 2023-30 Strategic Plan sets five main goals to create positive change in the division. These goals show where we should focus our attention and will help us align our efforts.

The first goal of the strategic plan focuses on every student having a strong start in FCPS. Whether they’re joining us in preschool or in high school, we want our students to be set up for success
