 Dear Wofltrap Families,
Welcome to another exciting week of learning and connection! Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for our first PTA meeting of the school year, as well as our Advanced Academics Program (AAP) informational services meeting. Our community's strong involvement makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
Walking through our classrooms last week highlighted the staff’s commitment to reasoning, active collaboration, and supportive learning environments. In science, students conducted hands-on physics explorations with toy cars to test hypotheses and diagram forces, while math classes engaged in turn and talk activities to justify multi-step algebraic equations. Across subject areas and classrooms, students could independently reference classroom wall space lined with anchor charts for problem-solving. They engaged in interactive phonics sound-hunts, and worked through small-group station rotations. Teachers and our support staff continue to develop the foundation for our year with lessons on student rights, responsibilities, and emotional regulation, setting a strong foundation for both social and academic growth. In short, it has been an AMAZING week at Wolftrap!
This week, we look forward to seeing many of our school families enjoying the traditions and festivities at the Madison County Fair! It is a wonderful community event, and we hope you take time to connect with friends and neighbors. Thank you for your continued partnership and support—let's make it a fantastic week!

🖤❤️Madison High School County Fair Friday, September 18th is the postponed County Fair! Tickets include Fair and Game Entry: Adult 7$ and Child 5$. Remember that football game attendance this year requires passage through weapons detection.
Save the Date: Community Conversations with Superintendent Reid: Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.
A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Events are planned for the following dates at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted):
- Wednesday, September 16, 6:45 p.m., at McNair Elementary School
- Monday, September 28, at Riverside Elementary School
- Monday, October 19, at Spring Hill Elementary School
- Monday, October 26, at Beech Tree Elementary School
- Thursday, October 29, at North Springfield Elementary School
- Friday, November 13, at Colin Powell Elementary School

Reporting Discrimination or Harassment: FCPS is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all races, national origins, and ethnicities. Individuals experiencing harassment or discrimination should report the incident as soon as possible.
Review and Sign the SR&R by September 30: The FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. This year’s SR&R includes new Universal Grade Matrices, which are at-a-glance charts that make it easier for families to see behavior expectations and school responses for grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12. Families, please review the SR&R and discuss these expectations with your child. Be sure to sign the SR&R acknowledgement form by Wednesday, September 30, either by logging into SIS ParentVUE or signing and returning the Signature Sheet to your child’s school.

Cellphones and Personal Devices: Students may only use a personal device if it is required as part of a necessary accommodation in the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan. A principal or the principal’s designee may approve a limited, course-specific exception for students enrolled in a specialized class when the curriculum requires a technology tool or software that isn’t available on a standard FCPS-issued device. Importance of Strong Attendance Habits
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Some of the ways parents can help their children create healthy routines and a habit of getting to school on time every day include:
- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine. (Need help? Download this checklist in English or Spanish.)
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make them feel comfortable and excited about learning.
- Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
- When possible, avoid medical appointments or extended trips when school is in session.

September 11-13: Rosh Hashanah: Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Friday, September 11. That day is an evening-only observance day. Important events will not be held after school.
National Hispanic Heritage Month: From September 15 to October 15, FCPS recognizes and celebrates the histories and cultures of the members of our community who trace their heritage to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
