Small School, BIG Heart! 💓

Fairfax Villa Community,

What a wonderful start to the new school year! We are so excited to see our students settling in so well and embracing all that this year has to offer. Already, our classrooms are filled with rigorous and engaging learning experiences, while students are also getting to know one another, building relationships, and strengthening our sense of community.

As we look ahead, we want to remind families that Back to School Night is this coming Wednesday, September 16th at 6PM. We are excited to open our doors and welcome you into your child’s classroom! This evening will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the routines and expectations of your child’s classroom, as well as the exciting academic learning and experiences planned for the year ahead.

We are grateful for your partnership and support as we begin another school year together. It is truly a joy to see our students learning, growing, and connecting each day.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful weekend! As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, need support, or would simply like to connect.

See you all soon,

Ms. Textoris and Mrs. Burke

☑️Early Release Wednesday: Action Item

Students will be dismissed 3 hours early four times throughout the school year and are encouraged to return home via their normal route.  We understand there may be a childcare hardship for many of our families. If your child remains at school, please know these are non-academic times and no additional teaching will occur. All students are encouraged to return home at 1pm.

To help plan for our school’s childcare needs during the early release Wednesdays, please complete this form for each of your children who are enrolled at Fairfax Villa Elementary.

If you have multiple children, please include all children on the one form. The form covers all scheduled Early Release Wednesdays.

🗓️Save the Date: Community Conversations with Superintendent Reid

Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.

A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Events are planned for the following dates at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted):

Registration links will be shared soon. Childcare and interpretation services will be provided. Events are one-hour long and open to all. Find out about other opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.

🗓️Review and Sign the SR&R by September 30th

The FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. This year’s SR&R includes new Universal Grade Matrices, which are at-a-glance charts that make it easier for families to see behavior expectations and school responses for grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12.

Families, please review the SR&R and discuss these expectations with your child. Be sure to sign the SR&R acknowledgement form by Wednesday, September 30, either by logging into SIS ParentVUE or signing and returning the Signature Sheet to your child’s school.

Learn more by watching a short video about the SR&R (available in English and Spanish) or visiting the SR&R webpage.

🚫Reporting Discrimination or Harassment

FCPS is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all races, national origins, and ethnicities. Individuals experiencing harassment or discrimination should report the incident as soon as possible.

🏫We’d Love You to Join Our PTA!

One of the best ways to support Fairfax Villa is by joining our PTA!

The PTA plays a vital role in enriching our school community by supporting student programs, organizing family events, providing resources for teachers, and creating meaningful opportunities for families to connect.

Becoming a PTA member is an easy way to make a positive impact—whether you have time to volunteer or simply want to show your support. Every membership strengthens our school community and helps provide valuable experiences for our students.

We encourage all families to join us in making this school year a memorable and successful one for every child!
