Principal's Message
The hatch watch for our monarchs has continued. It has been amazing for our staff and students to watch the various cycles of the caterpillar to the butterfly over the past few weeks. Our 2nd graders were able to take part launch parties from our pond courtyard.
Safety patrols began their school year with a central FCPS training and this year it was evident that they were fully ready to show their leadership during our bus evacuation drill. Schools are required to complete many drills throughout the school year and we have already completed two fire drills, a lockdown drill and our bus safety evac drill. I'm so proud of our team, the organization and support our staff and student patrols provide students and we have been impressed with our student's ability to understand and follow safety protocols. We also are fully equipped with our outdoor safety cameras.
The past two weeks, students in 1st through 6th have been participating in beginning of the year assessments for math and reading. Parents will be receiving reports with student data at the beginning of October, after the assessment window closes. More information will be shared to help you understand the data with an opportunity to attend a parent coffee to learn more. Thank you for your support and partnership to help your students come ready to show what they know and being ready to learn!

UPDATE: 100th Chesterbrook Elementary Celebration is going to be scheduled alongside our spring Fun Fair instead of an October event. We look forward to spending more time collecting memories, memorabilia and showcasing our wonderful community and school with all of you!

3HR Early Release Wednesdays
PARENT TASK!!!
For September 30th 3HR Early Release, please complete this form for each student so we know if the student will:
- go home at 12:35pm and how they will go home, or
- stay and go home at 3:35pm.
FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year, however the number has been reduced from eight to four days.
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.
Chesterbrook's 3HR Early Release Wednesdays are:

Bike / Walker Permission Form
4th, 5th or 6th graders within a permissible safe area may walk or bike independently. A parent permission form is required for principal approval. Without principal approval, students must bike/walk with an adult.
