Dear Lane Elementary Families,
We have loved welcoming all of our students back into the building! The energy and excitement throughout our school have been wonderful to see. We have also enjoyed visiting several classrooms to lead Morning Meeting with our students. These opportunities have allowed us to build relationships, learn more about our students, and strengthen our school community.
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Every school day brings important opportunities for learning, connection, and growth. We need your child here each day so they can fully participate in classroom learning, build relationships, and continue making progress. Thank you for partnering with us to support strong attendance.
Reading each evening with your child is another meaningful way to support our schoolwide improvement goal of growing every Lane Lion into a strong, confident reader. As you read together, consider asking questions during dinner or on the way to afternoon sports, such as:
- What was the most important part of what we read?
- What do you think will happen next? What makes you think that?
- How did a character feel, and what clues helped you know?
- What lesson or message did the author want us to understand?
- What connections can you make to your own life or the world around you?
Home-school communication is also an important part of student success. Students in grades 3 through 6 are bringing their planners home each day, and all grade levels will be sharing weekly newsletters. Please take time to read and review these with your child so you can stay informed and support learning at home.
