Oak Hill ES Back To School Night
Back to School Night will be on September 9th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. There will be two identical sessions to allow for families to attend sessions for more than 1 child.
- Session 1: 6:00-6:40p
- Session 2: 6:45-7:30pm
Locations
- Kindergarten will start in the Art Room
- 1st through 3rd Grade will report to their child's classroom.
- 4th Grade will start in Room D214
- 5th Grade will start in Room B215
- 6th Grade will start in Room B207
Family Life Education (FLE) information will be available to preview in the cafeteria from 5:30-6:00 p.m.

Digital Literacy Lessons for Families
Located on Schoology in the Oak Hill ES Parent Site.
You can access FCPS Digital literacy lesson materials to learn more about the concepts students will explore throughout the school year. Quarter 1 materials are available now, and materials for Quarters 2 through 4 will be added at the beginning each quarter.

FCPS 2e (Twice-Exceptional Programming)
We’re excited to share information about Twice-Exceptional (2e) Programming available within our school system. Twice-exceptional students demonstrate advanced abilities while also experiencing learning, attention, or other challenges that may require additional support.
Please visit the FCPS 2e webpage to learn more about 2e programming, available resources and opportunities to suppor tthe unique strengs and needs of twice-exceptional learners.

Fitness Fridays
We invite you to join us for Fitness Fridays beginning September 11th. Students are welcome to participate in a morning walk on the track alongside Oak Hill staff. This is a great opportunity to start the day energized and support both physical and mental well-being. We will meet on the blacktop at the back of the school at 8:00 AM. Please note that all students must be accompanied by an adult, as the event takes place before school hours. We look forward to your participation.
Please be advised that the event will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
AAP Informational Meetings
Please mark your calendars for Monday, September 28th from 9:15-10:15 for an AAP information meeting (in person). Doors will open at 9:00 to allow time for signing in on the Visitor Management system. The presentation will start promptly at 9:15.
Mrs. Lahr, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, will be discussing the continuum of Advanced Academics services offered in Fairfax County Public Schools. Please RSVP here if you wish to attend the presentation on September 28th.This presentation is open to all families in grades K-6.
Families of Full-Time students do not need to attend unless they wish to learn more about the other levels of AAP services available in FCPS. Please note this presentation will NOT cover how to apply for Full-Time Services.
The Full-Time AAP presentation will occur on October 27th. More information to come.

Library Volunteer Opportunity!
The Oak Hill Library is looking for adult volunteers to support the library. Volunteers typically welcome students, shelve books (fiction/nonfiction), use alphabetical skills/Dewey Decimal ordering skills, check books in/out, laminate/cut items for teachers, bulletin board setup, etc.
If interested, please fill out this Google Form no later than Wednesday, September 9th. If selected to volunteer, you will need to also register in our volunteer system.
Note: there may be more interest than there are available volunteer spaces. Thank you for understanding!

Asha-Jyothi Annual 5K and 1 mile Fun Run- 9/20 @ Fairfax Corner
Asha-Jyothi will donate 100 % of the registration fees back to our school, along with an incentive. $500 for 25+ registrations, $1000 for 50+ registrations, etc.
Registration includes an AJ t=shirt, medals for the kids, food and music.

Run-a-thon - September 25! 🐺
The Run-A-Thon is coming up fast! If you haven’t already, please create your child’s donation page today!
We are already 21% of the way to our $15,000 fundraising goal to purchase new cafeteria tables for Oak Hill! These grades are leading the way in fundraising:
1. 2nd grade - $775
2. Kindergarten - $640
3. 3rd Grade - $555
There will be three Run-a-Thon sessions on September 25, organized by grade.
K, 1, and 2 - 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Grades 3 and 4 - 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Grades 5 and 6 - 2:30-3:15 p.m.

PTA Meeting
Please join us for our first PTA meeting of the year. It will be IN-PERSON on Thursday, September 17th from 6:00 - 7:00pm in the school cafeteria.
First will be a brief report by Principal Kelly Durso followed by PTA business including voting on the bylaws, the year's budget and reserve proposals, and an update on upcoming events.

PTA Reflections Contest
Calling all creators! The National PTA Reflections Competition is back, and this year’s theme is “What My Culture Means to Me”. Create an original work in dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and/or visual arts!
