We had an awesome 2nd week of the 2026 - 2027 school year! Our patrols had their first meeting and received their belts. We received a donation of soccer balls and Nike storage bag from our LRES PTA Soccer Club partnership with Surf Nation and 1 Ball 1 Game! Practices start the week of September 14 for our kindergarten - second grade teams! Register here if your child has not joined and would like to play!
Opportunities for additional student leadership is happening now. Fourth - sixth graders that would like to join the Eco Defense Squad can fill out and return an application to Mrs. Busch (STEAM Teacher). Ms. Gray & Ms. Hagy will be leading our SCA. Fifth and sixth graders that would like to run for an office position can attend an interest meeting on Monday, September 14. Parents can hear about these opportunities and more at Back to School Night on September 17!
Safety remains our top priority, and last week we successfully conducted our first Lockdown Drill of the school year. We are proud of all our students for their maturity, active listening, and participation during the drill. As a safety reminder, parents must accompany students for any events held before or after school. Students must all check in at home prior to returning to school grounds to play on the playground, basketball court, or field and must have parent supervision.
The Lemon Road teachers are looking forward to hosting Back to School Night for our parents on Thursday, September 17. Back to School Night is an adult-only event where parents & guardians meet their child's teacher(s) to hear about curriculum, homework, volunteer opportunities, etc. and visit with specialists and student leadership sponsors in the cafeteria/library. Our schedule for the evening is below:
4:50: Doors Open for Parents/Guardians
5:00: Classroom Session #1
5:40: Meet & Greet with Specialists and Student Leadership Opportunities
6:10: Classroom Session #2
6:50: Evening Ends

We are working toward 100% completion of student online verification forms. The annual re-enrollment packet includes the early release Wednesday’s childcare need selection.
FCPS began providing elementary school staff with additional time because our teachers and staff do not have equal paid planning or collaboration time as middle and high school colleagues. For our staff to have this professional time, we ask students to go home or to an aftercare location at 11:55 a.m. on these four Wednesdays. The dates for Lemon Road are: September 30, November 18, January 13, and April 7.
Families may complete their forms electronically through Parent Vue (https://bit.ly/3RZepAK), or by downloading the paper forms, (https://bit.ly/4gd8Rfj) from the FCPS website and returning them to the school office. If your child is able to go home or to their aftercare location, please email Ms. Argodale at jhargodale@fcps.edu.
Follow the steps to complete the Early Release Wednesday Survey:
Step 1: Log into FCPS ParentVUE
Step 2: Click on “Online Packets” in the upper right-hand corner (If you are using the App, you will click on online registration and then scroll to Online Verification (OVU).
