Joining the PTSA is one of the easiest ways to support McLean High School and make a difference for students, teachers, and families.

Your membership helps fund student and family events, teacher and staff appreciation, advocacy initiatives, community engagement activities, and programs that strengthen our school community.

Membership is open to everyone, including:

• Faculty and staff

• Alumni
• Community members

Standard Parent Membership is $30. Membership is the PTSA's primary annual fundraiser, helping fund programs and events that benefit students, families, teachers and staff throughout the year.

Good to know: Joining the PTSA does not require volunteering. Your membership alone helps make a difference.

McLean Matters Toiletries Drive

McLean High School has approximately 300 students who are at or below the poverty level.  For many of these students, lack of toiletries poses a serious barrier to their comfort and learning while at school.  This is particularly true for girls who lack regular access to feminine hygiene products.

This year, the PTSA McLean Matters Committee will be hosting a Fall Toiletries drive to help support our students in need!  

Please purchase items from this Amazon wish list by September 25th for delivery directly to the volunteer organizing this drive.  She will be taking the toiletries collected to MHS, where they will be available for students during the school day at McPantry and for their families' pick-up during McPantry's fall food Pop-up in October.  

Please do NOT take donations to the school, the front office has requested they be routed directly to our volunteer, so we can bring them in all at once.

Celebrate McLean — Plan Your Evening!

Join us on today from 3:30-6 pm for a PTSA & Boosters-sponsored evening of community, student activities, food, and fun as students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners come together to celebrate everything that makes McLean High School special. Parents and siblings are invited, too.

Exciting update! PTSA volunteers will provide a convenient backpack check for students throughout the afternoon and football game. Backpacks will be ticketed, stored in the hallway in the Mods, and supervised by parent volunteers. This service is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5 to support future PTSA events and programs. If you wish to donate, please bring cash in exact change. Please do not leave valuables in backpacks; all items are stored at the owner's own risk. 

Details: 3:30 pm-end of football game @ check-in and pick-up at the Mods.

Here is the schedule and other details for this evening's exciting events:

3:30-4 pm Student Activity Fair @ Practice Football Field. Most MHS student clubs, some coaches and sports teams. Free admission.

4-6 pm Fun Fair @ Practice Football Field. Games, Music, Food Trucks and Paint-out (bring your white shirt)! Free admission for games, music and paint-out. Bring $ or cc for food trucks.

7 pm Football Game @ Football Stadium. Support the Highlanders at the festive First Varsity Home Game of the Season! Cheerleading, dance, and band performance at half-time. Tickets $7 adults, $5 students. Bring $ or cc for food concessions. Please note FCPS bag and purse prohibition - only small or clear bags allowed in the stadium.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Opportunity - Friday Breakfast Station

The PTSA organizes a weekly Friday Breakfast Station during the year stocked with contributions by fellow McLean HS families. The Friday Breakfast Station is set up in the front office for the 250+ teachers & staff who are grateful each week for your donations.  Donations can be dropped off in person or ordered online and shipped. Student Leadership Opportunity: National PTA Youth Council

Are you a McLean High School student, age 13–17, who cares about advocacy, youth voice, and making a difference? National PTA is seeking young leaders to serve on its 2026–2027 Youth Council.

Council members will collaborate with students from across the country, develop leadership and advocacy skills, and help elevate the student perspective on issues that matter to young people and their communities.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on September 13.

PTSA hosts a Back to School Night Dinner for Teachers and Staff!

On Wednesday, August 26th, the PTSA hosted a dinner for the teachers/staff of McLean High School before Back to School Night. A yummy dinner provided by Listrani’s of McLean included pizza, salad, dessert and cold drinks. The dinner nourished the teachers/staff before the big night and allowed them to keep their parking spots before the event. The PTSA, through the Hospitality Committee, supports staff throughout the year by planning events such as this Back to School Night Dinner. Looking forward to a great year for McLean High School!
