Sandburg Families,
We hope you enjoy the Labor Day holiday with family and friends!
Please mark your calendars for Back-to-School Night on September 9, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Families will follow their child’s schedule and visit periods 1–8 to learn more about each class. We will open our doors at 4:30 for an FLE presentation if parents are interested in reviewing the content. Please note that Back-to-School Night is not an opportunity for individual conferences. If you would like to meet with a teacher, please contact them directly to schedule a meeting. Schoolwide conferences will be held at the end of the quarter.
We continue to navigate arrival procedures as students go through our Open Gate weapons detection system. Please encourage your child to leave home any items they do not need at school each day so that arrival can be as efficient as possible.
Our students have done a great job keeping personal devices put away for the entire school day. Please encourage them to continue demonstrating these positive behaviors!

We look forward to welcoming our Sandburg families to Back to School Night! This evening is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and learn more about classroom expectations, curriculum, and the year ahead.
Back to School Night Schedule
4:30–5:00 PM | Family Life Education & Family Resources
Our HPE Lead will offer a Family Life Education Session. Various stations will also be available for families to drop off or pick up forms, receive schedules, and access additional school information.
5:00–7:00 PM | Classroom Visits
Families will follow their student’s schedule to visit classrooms and meet teachers.
7:00–7:30 PM | Family Life Education
A second Family Life Education Session will be offered by our HPE Lead.
Important: Save Your Student’s Schedule Before Arriving
Cellular and Wi-Fi service can be limited inside the building. Before arriving, please log in to ParentVUE and take a screenshot of your student’s schedule so you can easily access classroom and teacher information throughout the evening.

Everything You Need to Do in SIS ParentVUE
Are you working your way through back-to-school forms and checklists? Make sure you have a SIS ParentVUE account for your family and log in to find important forms and updates.
- Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in ParentVUE. To update your contact information in ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
- Submit daylong absences by clicking “Report Absence.”
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact Ms. Lucas BLLucas@fcps.edu for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.
Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources
Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.
