Welcome to another fantastic week! Seeing our classrooms buzzing with energy has been inspiring, and it’s especially exciting to watch our returning upper-level students dive into each program with such focus, curiosity, and excitement. You are setting an incredible tone for the entire school community.
Our Student Ambassador applications are rolling in and will close next Friday! We firmly believe that student voice should shape our culture, and having our students lead the way is vital to making our school the best it can be. If you are eager to step up, represent your peers, and drive positive change, check out the application details through Schoology or below.
To ensure our campus remains organized and accessible for everyone, please remember to prominently display your official parking pass whenever you park on grounds. We are officially sold out of parking passes and our Academy shuttles are running to and from more schools than ever. If you have any questions or concerns about transportation, stop by the Academy office and connect with Ms. Tarvid or me.
To keep the momentum going from our initial kickoff orientation, members of our Support Team will be dropping into classes throughout next week. These visits are a great chance to reconnect, check in on how your semester is taking off, and ensure everyone has the resources they need to succeed.

Reminder that the Interest Meeting for the Spring Break Academy trip to South Korea will be held tomorrow, Thursday 9/10, at 7pm in room E108 at Fairfax HS.

Academy Ambassadors is a leadership opportunity for students across all programs. Ambassadors serve as Academy reps,lead events, and support our incredible programs, staff, and students!

 Is your student fluent in a language other than English? If so, they may be able to earn up to three high school credits toward graduation by taking the World Language Credit Exam. This exam is a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their language proficiency and receive official recognition for their skills. By passing the exam, your student can:
- Earn up to three high school World Language credits.
- Meet the language requirement for the Advanced Studies Diploma.
- Qualify for the Virginia Seal of Biliteracy, a special recognition on their diploma.
Enrollment is limited to one assessment per language each academic year, with a lifetime maximum of two attempts per language during the secondary school years.
The test will take place at Fairfax High School during the school day on November 13, 2026.
To register, students must first fill out the online registration form by clicking this link: WORLD LANGUAGE REGISTRATION FORM. Once the form is complete, they will receive a confirmation message with a link to the official registration paperwork. Parents or guardians are required to sign the paperwork before the student returns it to their school counselor. The deadline to submit the form is October 8, 2026.
If needed, paper copies can be picked up in the FHS Student Services office (L107). Paper form deadline is October 16, 2025.
Important: This exam is not for students who have already earned three high school credits in the language they wish to test.

 Every FCPS Academy has a CES- a Career Experience Specialist. Our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities and next steps in career pathways and exploration. Students are encouraged to email me or drop by my office (E125) anytime if they’d like some guidance, support, or resources on their next steps after high school. Students that would like to add their input regarding industry focused experiences they’d like to see here at Academy should fill out the Career Opportunities Form. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated and valued!
Parents/Guardians and community members with careers connected to the arts, construction/electrical, or critical language/culture, or government agencies are needed for our Career Expo! Reach out to volunteer to chat with or mentor students, host a workshop or job site tour, or other memorable opportunities!
