picture day

Look for a flyer coming home this week from Barksdale Photography with information about picture day!

If you choose to order online, you will receive a camera pass via email for your child to bring to Picture Day. If a student does not bring their camera pass, there is no need to worry. Barksdale will manually match the student to their order during the production process.

Parents/guardians may place an order using the flyer up to 24 hours after Picture Day. When pictures are returned to the school, all students who purchased a picture package will receive their prepaid package. Any student who was photographed but did not purchase a package will receive a proof of the picture taken on Picture Day.

Get to Know FCPS and the Resources Available to Families

As a parent or caregiver, you play a critical role in your child’s education. The FCPS Family Academy compiles classes, webinars, workshops, and programs offered by the school division to help you support your child’s needs and learning at home.

Visit the Family Academy catalog for more information on these sessions and to register to attend. Contact our Family Liaison, Emily Simon (emsimon@fcps.edu) if you have any questions or need help registering.

Advanced Academic Program

Families are invited to attend two AAP information meetings, led by Melissa Graham, our Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART):

  • AAP Continuum of Services Parents/Guardians K-6: Monday, September 28 at 6:30 PM in Crossfield’s Cafeteria. Families of students in grades K-6 will learn about the continuum of advanced academic services available to FCPS students.
  • Full-Time AAP Identification Parents/Guardians 2-6: Thursday, November 5 at 6:30 PM via Zoom.  Zoom link will be provided closer to November 5.  Families of students in grades 2-6 will learn about the referral and identification processes for Full-Time AAP services.

Kiss & Ride Reminders

To ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient Kiss & Ride arrival and dismissal for our Crossfield students, we utilize a structured drop-off/pickup procedure. The Kiss & Ride loop is for adults who plan to remain in their vehicle. (Adults who need to exit the car to assist a student may park in the large parking lot after passing the school.)

Kiss & Ride Entrance: Take your first LEFT upon entering the Crossfield property.

Please remain in your car at all times. Staff members and patrols will help once your student has exited the car upon arrival/drop off.

Kindergarten students will be walked to and from the school.

Do NOT pull out of the line early or pass other vehicles. This is for the safety of our students and staff.

Help your child learn how to open and close the car door independently. Student patrols may not open or close car doors.

Students should enter and exit the vehicle on the passenger side (curb side) only.

-Please have your child's car seat/booster ready. Staff members may not buckle your child into a car seat. If your child needs assistance buckling, please pull around the loop, park in a parking space, and buckle your child properly.

Exit: Please pull forward when the Kiss & Ride staff members signal it is safe to do so.

Thank you for helping keep our Kiss & Ride loop safe during drop-off and pick-up!

Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources

 Managing Your Child's Digital Consent

Once you are logged in, you will see an overview of your child's consent forms. To review or update a form, simply click on it. Most elementary students will have the following forms:

-Digital Resource Consent 2026-2027: Select any/all digital resources your child may access this year. Then scroll to the bottom and press Save Selections.

-FCPS-Issued Student Device Take-Home Opt-Out (Grades 1-6): Crossfield students occasionally take digital devices home to complete assignments. Toggle this button “green” if you DO NOT want your child to bring their device home.

-Parent Retest Permission form for State Assessments (Grades 3-8): If your child does not pass an SOL test and you would like them to retake it, select which retests you will allow. Or, simply click “toggle all selections below” to approve retests for all SOL tests this year.

-Additional Optional Forms: (These forms are for resources/activities that do not require a parent/guardian’s consent. However, you may opt your child out of any/all of them.

Help us make our school’s biggest fundraiser a success!

fundraising question

We’re seeking organizations within our community to sponsor Crossfield's upcoming Fun Run, our largest fundraiser for the year.

Do you own a business, work for a company with a giving program, or know someone who may be interested in getting involved? It's a chance to support our students and staff, and gain visibility within our community as well!

We’d love an introduction! You make the intro—we’ll take care of the rest. Please reach out or send their info to vp.fundraising@crossfieldpto.org. Check out our sponsor outreach letter here!
